Actually, everyone I talk to says that the Ergo is waaaaaaaay better than the bjorn. Apparently it's easier to get on/load and is much, much more comfortable once the baby is over 10-15 lbs. Some people have also mentioned that it has better support for the baby.

I plan on getting the Ergo carrier and Moby wrap.

I just ordered the Zolowear and I really love it.  I had a demo from one of the sales reps on all the ways to wear it, etc.

Also the Belle Baby Carrier has caught my eye for more of a carrier type.  I think the hubs wants the ERGO for himself.  He is very eager to be a baby-wearing daddy!

  • I obv. havent used it yet... but i did buy a hotsling and i like it... i carried a pineapple around the house for a little while in it... and it can care them up to two years old
  • I have used a TON.  My DS was a very high needs baby.  My DD was 21 months old when he was born, so having the option of carrying him was a MUST.

    Here's my review -

Hotsling - didn't like it.  I tried as an newborn and then again as an infant.  Both of us hated it actually.  MY DS would SCREAM bloody murder in it. I never felt like I could truly operate withhold still holding the sling, which kind of defeated the purpose.  IT didn't feel secure.  Hurt my shoulders and back.  I thought it was a size issue, so I also tried the Peanut sling.  It was basically the same as Hotsling.  I know people that like them, it wasn't for us though.

Mai Tai wrap - it's good.  Especially good for travel, the beach, etc. since it folds up really compactly.  It was comfortable.  It had a fairly easy learning curve.  I didn't get this one until my DS around 4 months old though, so I can't really speak for using it really early on. I think it would be fine though.  My only issue is that I chose fabric that is water resistant to some extent, so it slips and I have to tighten it a lot during use.  I bet regular fabric would have been better in that regard.

ERGO - LOVE it!  I actually bought two so I could have one in the car and one in the house.  It's VERY Comfortable (both front and back carrier).  It can be used as a hip carry, but I've never tried it.  I can still comfortabley hold my DS who is 2 and 27 lbs for extended periods of time without any issues.  I bought an infant insert for #3 but haven't tried it, so I can't say how it will work.

I know you didn't ask, but I really liked the Bjorn Active (NOT the original) early on.  It was comfortable until the baby hit about 15-16 lbs.

  • For me slings are like shoes...you can never have too many and each kind is perfect for a different situation...

Moby Wrap was great for snuggly walks.  I can getbaby in there all nice and snug while I take a brisk walk.  Since it's made of jersey, they're only good for the first year or so.  For less stretch get a wrap made out of non-stretchy cotton.

Hotsling or other pouch sling was great in the beginning too when they're tiny.  I used it constantly!

Ringsling, many companies make these.  I made my own.  I have a pretty silk one and a cotton one.  I used them contantly, especially after the first few months.

Ergo is awesome, I still use it once in a while.

Mei Tai baby carriers, different companies also make these.  Great for front and back carry for longer periods of time, especially when they're smaller.  Although I did put DS in a back carry last week when he was feelign especially needy and I had to get dinner ready!

  • i was all for the dr. sears balbo but i think i'm going to go with the moby wrap.  it looks more comfortable and versatile.
  • I tried on a moby and maya wrap and really like them both. I think I'll get the moby for sure and then potentially the maya if someone gives it to me or if I decide I absolutely need it.
