? about cool mist humidifiers

i think i'm leaning toward a cool mist after reading your responses... just wondering is the fan any louder than a regular fan?  also, how often does the filter need to be replaced on the vicks model?

    The fan on the one we have is reasonably quiet, and definitely not louder than a regular fan you'd put on your desk or something.  Just some white noise in the background.

     

    The Vicks model we have uses these Protec filters.  We only replace them about once a month.

    I guess it depends on which Vicks model you have. We bought ours at CVS and it just has a little honeycomb looking filter in it. We have had it for 3 months and have not replaced it yet. I check it routinely and it does not appear dirty. Of course now I am feeling bad and should probably replace it anyway:-)

    The motor is not loud at all.  I think our air filters in our other rooms are much louder. 

    We only started using it last week, so I have yet to change the filter.
