What does a "flutter" feel like in your tummy?

I've been feeling like little tickles in my upper stomach area for a week or so now. It literally feels like someone is tickling me, but from the inside...and it's in the same spot every time. I thought this may be what pregnant-folk call flutters, but thought maybe it's too early.  Stick out tongue

is that what a "flutter" feels like?

  • It could be. Mine were lower though.

  • That'd be the flutters Smile Your little one it tickling you! ENJOY
  • Yup, sounds right to me. I always describe it as (and this may sound gross) a finger going across my belly from the inside!
  • Kinda like gas bubbles, but lighter.
  • Dude, my gas bubbles do NOT feel ticklish at all!!! Those are more like "Take cover...incoming!!!" Tongue Tied

  • Mine are definitely lower in my abdomen still but I am carrying very low also.  They feel like little bubbles popping and as they get stronger it's sort of like a little involuntary twitch in there.

  • i felt something weird today while eating lunch and a tickle is a perfect description...however it could have been diarrhea also, so who knows...lol!! this is the first time i have had this paticular little feeling-i have felt twinges and tugs here and there, but never a tickle...

  • My flutters reminded me of when I was a child and would hold a butterfly in my cupped hands. I could barely feel it's wings fluttering against my skin but it was definitely there. That was exactly what I felt in my stomach (nothing like gas bubbles!) it was light and almost tickled and it was definitely something new! But mine was much lower...since your uterus is in your pelvis area and the top doesn't even reach your bellybutton until 20 weeks.
  • Mine are usually much lower, but it does feel like he's tickling me from the inside....except when he's just dancing on my bladder!
  • Just as a PP said, the best way I can describe it is that it feels like a butterfly trapped inside me - except that I usually only feel one flutter at a time.  Mine is also below my belly button and on my right side.  Not sure if you would be feeling flutters in your "upper stomach", but then again, I'm not a doctor!
  • Mine felt just like tickling so I think it could have been. It actually made me laugh out loud several times.

  • That's probably it.  I feel like I have a fish in my stomach but that is all I feel so far.

Yes mine felt the same. More of a light thump instead of what I imagine fluttering to feel like. It should be low though. You're not that far along for it to be high on your stomach. When the nurse checks my baby's heartbeat, she always real low on my stomach. Several inches below my bellybutton. That's where I always feel something.

    HAHAHA... agreed!

  • That sounds like it - it's your little baby saying hi!

  • Well first of all my "tummy" is a lot higher than my uterus. Secondly, I don't feel them because my placenta is in the way.
