paci, binky, soothie...whatever you call it!

recommend yous!  Spencer really likes the newborn soothies (the ones they give you in the hospital) so we have a bunch.  I'm thinking he prefers them over the others b/c of the nipple size, but I really don't know.  He'll take others (avent, born free, nuk) but will prefer the soothie.  Any suggestions?  Or is it really no big deal that he prefers the soothie? 

 The reason I ask this is b/c when I see a stranger they will sometimes comment that he must be a newbie based on the pacifier.  Oh well.....

    Alexis uses the Gerber Nuk.  No real reason, they were the only ones that she would keep in her mouth after the hospital ones so i stuck with it.

    mady has always been a nuk girl...that was the 1st paci i gave her at the hospital after her soothie. when she tries another paci she just spits it out...its either a nuk or nothing at all for miss mady

    I wouldn't worry about what others think. If that's what he likes then let him use that brand. Mikey liked the Gumdrop Paci's from the hospital and I bought him more when we got home. Then once he found his thumb around 4 months, he wanted nothing to do with pacifiers.

    Riley loves the soothies from the hospital too! Even thought she hasn't been real big on paci's to begin with, she won't take anything else. She uses the other kinds as toys and chew objects but the soothies are the only ones she'll actually suck on. I wouldn't worry about it. I've seen children (around 1-3 years old) walking around with a soothie in their hand or mouth. Whatever makes them happy!

    you guwere given those at the hospital??  we weren't given those at all!!

    abby uses the avent orthodontic ones.  she hates the gerber nuks, though she will only use the gerber nuk bottles.  either way, she is liking her thumb now, so she only uses the pacifier before bed (i hate that she sucks her thumb!)

    Nate has been using the soothies (I haven't introduced a different brand) because I read somewhere that single mold pacis help to cut down on ear infections because germs don't have a place to hide. Soothies are easily cleaned and sterilized. That being said soothies are not my favorite pacifier... they pop right out of his mouth all the time!

    Our hospital never gave us anything! I have no idea what a soothie is, but i'm sure it's fine to suck on now if that's what they gave you! Zoe used Playtex and Nuk. But she doesn't take it anymore, around 8 months she just started to throw it whenever i'd give it to her, so no more paci for her!

    Zachary loves the soothies brand!! I tried to give him the avent ones once b/c I found them in Gator colors but he wouldn't have them. Oh well.

    Lynda only takes the soothies... we tried the others and I don't care that she doesn't like them.  Soothies it is.  I was actually hoping that soothies made bottles with nipples like that to help with the bottle feeding, but no such luck.

    Nadia is a silicone NUK baby. I was a NUK baby and my baby is a NUK baby! LOL!

    It's the only paci I've ever given her- so I really don't know if she'd like something else better.

    Kaitlyn only took the Nuks but Hannah is a Soothie girl. Playtex actually makes a silcone one with an identical bulb, just instead of the round shape, it's more shaped for their mouths. Hannah's using that now and its cheaper.
