Parenting after a Loss

sleep books recommendation

Since transitioning to her crib and after an ear infection DD has become an awful sleeper.  A friend recommended healthy sleep habits and the no cry sleep solution.  If you've read either of these did they help?  Which would you recommend?  Thanks.

Re: sleep books recommendation

  • The two that have been the best for me have been "Solving your child's sleep problems" by William Ferber and

The 90-Minute Baby Sleep Program: Follow Your Child's Natural Sleep Rhythms for Better Nights and Naps

Following the first book, Ethan went from waking up 5-6 times a night to one waking.  Its been amazing.

The 2nd one was just really useful info to help detect when your child is going to be tired and follow those cues to keep them from getting overtired.

  • I have read about 4 books on sleeping now - and my favorite so far is the Baby Sleep Solution by Suzy Giordano.  It seems to be a good middle-ground book between CIO and no-cry methods.

  • Solving Your Child's Sleep Problems by Ferber
  • I have Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child and The No-Cry Sleep Solution.  I really like HSH but I felt like for a younger baby he just says "put the baby down awake and let them fall asleep on their own."  Well I needed more instruction than that and since he's too young to cry I got The No-Cry book.  She talks about getting into a routine, creating sleep associations and lots of stuff that don't involve crying.  I recommend both books.  I've gotten several other from the library and didn't like them as much.
