Funny story about PAC's name/DH's family

So in DH?s family, they?ve had a decades-long tradition of naming the sons after the paternal grandfather. It?s a very large Italian family, with some Spanish (from Spain)/Puerto Rican in there too.

DH is an Andrew, his grandfather was an Andre and his great-great grandfather was an Andres.

Patrick gets his name from FIL, who goes as Pat. But we recently found out that his name was not supposed to be Patrick, it was supposed to be Pasquale. I guess the region of the Bronx he was born in was very heavily Irish Catholic, and FIL?s mom told the nurses ?Pasquale? and they couldn?t figure out how to spell it, especially with her accent, and just wrote down ?Patrick.? And back then, I guess there was still a huge divide between the Italians and Irish in that neighborhood, so the nurses didn't really give a crap, either.

So yeah, Pasquale. That tradition would have certainly ended with us if that?s the name we had to use.

Side note: We also found out that DH?s family crest is a black spider on a red background, and his great-grandfather was a horrible, horrible man that owned plantations and eventually got lynched and killed by his townspeople. Genealogy is so interesting.
