Non-EF confession

This should have gone in the what can't you give up poll yesterday, but I get my eyebrows waxed at a local little nail salon (I'm horrible at tweezing or waxing my own, they're always uneven) that I know is incredibly un-EF.  I'm sure it's horrible enough for me to go in there once every 4-6 weeks and breathe in those chemicals but today I was so sad b/c the woman who waxed me was PG.  I know it's a job which is a lot in this economy, but that can not be good for a growing baby!

Re: Non-EF confession

  • I had a GC to get my nails done (not generally a nail polish gal) and the woman who did it was pg - 2nd tri, I believe.  She got up and left the room every time she was drying, but to be honest, I didn't feel too bad - it was her choice (she worked with her family, and wasn't the only manicurist, so I have a feeling she could have gotten out of it if she was really worried about it), and the room was very well ventilated.  I couldn't smell much of anything.

  • That's good that you couldn't smell it.  My nail salon reaks like really strong chemicals as soon as you walk through the door.

I just feel bad b/c I'm not sure everyone realizes how bad these chemicals are for things like developing babies.

I agree!!  I used to get acrylic nails all the time (terrible, I know better now!), and I would cringe every time I'd see pg ladies come in to get mani/pedi's.  I'm sure it was a treat for them to have the relaxing spa treatments, but I could never justify the potential for harm.

  • KHoekstra~ I'm from the same area, just wondering where you go to get it done?

  • I go to a little Asian salon literally up the street from my house, nothing too exciting but they do the best job without burning my sensitive skin (which another salon did).  Which part of the area do you live in?  I'm east of the city, FM area.  Let me know if you want more info.
  • I'm over in Liverpool. I found I can't even bend to clip my toenails anymore. lol So I'm looking for somewhere that does all that stuff!!
