We're supposed to forecast out our medical and vacation leave for 12 weeks in advance at my company. We have our first info session about IUI with the RE in early March, and I'm right now trying to forecast through Mid-May how much time I'll be spending at the doc.
So, what is the schedule I can assume will happen for IUI? How many appointments, when in my cycle, how long, etc?
Also, any suggestions on what to tell my boss if/when our client asks why the heck am I taking so much medical leave? Something that says, "Thanks for your concern, I'm not dying, but please mind your own business."
Yes, we are trying to adopt and TTC at the same time. It's the right choice for our family, and that's that. I'm wearing my flameproof suit today.
Re: IUI and work schedule
Ok so I only know my IUI schedule and I hope it helps..
Cd1-start Af.. cd3-7 clomid cd9-shot of gonal-f
Cd12 start U/S-normally at 7:30am and takes 30min to get in and out.. Request them early so you get to work on time.. They do daily morning U/S untill I have mature follies..
Then I get my trigger shot right after my U/S if they are big enough..
The day after my trigger.. I get b2b IUI.. They are early.. I get there at 6:15 and the IUI is done at 7:15.. both days.. I am out by 7:45...
They should be good about doing it in the morning so it doesnt interefear with work much.. good luck hun!
Is your CD9 shot of gonal at home or at the RE?
How come you have to go in so early in the AM?
Does your H hve to go in with you for the IUI, or do they let him store his sperm?
I guess it depends on if you're doing a monitored or unmonitored cycle. With my unmonitored cycles, I only needed to go to the RE office for the insemination and a follow up blood test.
With my monitored cycle, I was in there quite a bit more. I went for baseline ultrasound, 3 follow-up u/s and insemination.
I would just tell work it's personal. Good luck!
My IUI Schedule:
CD3 - u/s
Day after surge - IUI (some offices have back to back, meaning 2 days in a row)
7 days later - b/w for progesterone
7 days later - beta
Lucky for me, u/s and b/w are done starting at 7am, so that doesn't interfere w/ my job. Now, IUIs are trickier. Our first was the day before thankgiving, so I came in late that day, and the next day our office was closed (we only had that one).
This cycle, I'm really hoping the first IUI will be on Sunday, so I only have to take 1 morning office. Otherwise, I just say I have a doctor's appt. I work later those days to make up the time. My boss really doestn't interfere.
