We bought a pack of Huggies for newborns, with the umbilical cord notch. We've also bought two packs of Pampers Swaddlers with the umbilical cord notch.
I also bought some wipes.
What are you doing? Stocking up on one brand or buying a little of two different brands?
We probably won't buy anymore until he gets here and we figure out what works best.
Re: Stocking up on diapers...
Will use Seventh Generation in the hospital and probably the first week and then move to cloth diaper's.
We want to get past the meconium poo stage before we move to cloth.
DD -- 5YO
DS -- 3YO
We got a couple of packs of newborns, but I won't buy any b/c I know we're going to be having a big baby and he/she will be out of them in no time.
We're going to buy the Costco brand diapers and they also sell Huggies there. Which ever one doesn't work out for us we will take back since Costco has that great return policy!
I think you are probably good with what you've gotten. I liked Swaddlers with my DD and Huggies with my DS. My kids used Newborn size for a while, but I know plenty of babies that were out of the Newborn size within a week or two.
You'll want an excuse to get out of the house for a short trip anyway. You want to be prepared, but not so much that you don't have a reason for getting out.
We're trying the Swaddlers Sensitive skin diapers only because DH has always had really sensitive skin.
We've only bought one box so far, but I figured we'd start doing that more often now. I'm hoping Giada likes those diapers but if we have to switch we will. There are always plenty of women that I work with who are pregnant, so any unopened boxes will make great shower gifts
I'm not planning to buy many at all before the baby comes. I'll probably get some at my shower, and I know you get a few at the hospital. We'll try those and see what works before we stock up.
We're a mile and a half from Target, so if we run out, I'll just send DH to the store. Or one of the grandparents, who I'm sure are all going to be at our house as much as possible!!
Also, I'm toying with the idea of trying out cloth diapers, so I don't want to buy too many disposables. The cloth diapers I will be buying ahead of time, although I'll probably give myself a week or so of figuring out this whole parenthood and breastfeeding thing before I try to add cloth diapering into the mix.
I cloth diaper DD but they will not fit this DC until at least 10 lbs. For us Huggies leaked every time. So, I will probably get 1-2 packs of pampers swaddlers nb but thats it since DD only fit them until 3 weeks. Size one lasted a few months but I don't plan to get any yet.
P.S. Luvs worked great for us too.
We've had some people buying them for us. I think we'll hold off on buying any for now.
I've been adding money to a Target GC instead of buying them. ?
We're using cloth- we already have our diapers for the first couple of months. They're so dang cute, I could scream.
With Rebecca, we had a couple of packages of Huggies NB and Pampers swaddlers NBs at home. We ended up using the Pampers. I hated the huggies. I used the pack and never bought more. They are much stiffer, IMO, than the pampers which I didn't like
We don't CD so with DS I stocked up on every brand imaginable and about 10 packs (jumbo) in each size. Used every one of them. DS was not allergic to any and I had no other issues with them and am not a brand snob
I'm doing the sane for #2 right now.
FYI - Walgreens and Rite-Aid have some decent diaper sales this week.
Instead of buying diapers DH and I talked about every time we go to Walmart to put $5 or $10 on a gift card and we can buy what we need when we need it. I could buy one or two packs of diapers but I don't want to get overloaded and have so many we can't use them all.
As long as the wipes stay sealed will they last?
We have pampers, huggies, and bumgenius. We are stocking up as much as we can in 1's and 2's. We have 2 boxes of NB also. We figure since we can't stock up on formula we can stock up on diapers.
You can also buy gift cards and put those away for diapers.
