I got 2 bottles of the ready made stuff and that's all I'm having. I think it's one of those things were DH can just quickly run out and get something if necessary. If I didn't have the free one I'd probably just wait. They may give you some at the hospital too.
Soon to celebrate the day we met, even if the day before marks when we said goodbye.
I'm not planning to, though I could see DH smuggling some at the hospital. I figure I don't want it around and we live near several 24 hour grocery stores, so it's not like we couldn't have access to it if we needed it.

1. If you really want to BF, you should not have any formula in the house. That way, when you want to give up at 3 am, you'll be more likely to just stick with it if you have to drive to the store and buy formula than if you already have some in the house you can just mix up.
2. You can get free samples from the hospital or from the formula companies. No point in buying any unless you are actually going to be FFing.

They give you a whole bunch of stuff at the hospitals too. Just ask and remember to treat your nurses very kindly, because they will give you a LOT of goodies too.
No, I actually just gave away the two free cans that I received in the mail. I don't want any in the house. I figure this way, I will have to stick it out if I land up having problems. It's harder to actually go out and get it, but if it's in the house than I may be tempted to use it.

I agree with this. And I will add, it is good to at least rent or have a manual pump at home. I got so engorged the first night home that DS couldn't latch and DH had to go to walmart at 3 am to get a cheap breast pump.

Plus, a BF baby doesn't easily switch to formula. I think it took 3 weeks. It's not as easy as "I can't do it anymore, give them formula".

Yes, every BFing mom should have at least a manual pump.

Ditto! If you *really* want to BF, it takes real commitment, because it can be hard in the begining. It pays off in the end, though! But, no, I wouldn't have any formula in the house.
Also, I would read a good breastfeeding book now. So That's What They're For, albeit the incredibly cheesy title and writing style, is an excellent resource, IMO.
You can probably get some of those little nurser bottles of formula from the hospital, and my ped's office gives free samples of Enfamil as well. And I got some free samples of Similac in the mail, too.

No, you shouldn't.
