Re: The SAHM Book Club Weekly Check-In
I finished the Girlfriend's Guide to Toddlers, and Super Baby Food. Unfortunately I really didn't like either of them
Then I started "Fortune's Favorite's" by Colleen McCullough but I don't really like it so far and it's like 1000 pages, so I think I'm going to quit that one and start one of the 6 library books that I am next in line to get. I'll get back to you with what the title is, but it'll be book 15.
Edit: I always forget to respond to the poll question! Anyway, I like reading books the best. I read really fast, so magazines don't really entertain me for very long. When I was younger though, I LOVED comic books - I read the Archie comics, and also Calvin and Hobbes and Baby Blues. I read them all the time! I still have a huge collection back at my mom's house.
I've read that book too, and I know what you mean about the random format...she kind of skips around in time a lot. Another book about him and his wives that's a little easier to read is "The Autobiography of Henry VIII" by Margaret George. It's fiction, but it's a really good story and I liked it a lot!
I finished American Bride.
I also started and finished Sundays at Tiffany's by James Patterson.
I just started Up & Out by Ariella Papa.
So I've currently read 2 books.
I finished The Shack and really enjoyed it. Very easy read- but very thought provoking.
I am going to switch it up and read a classic next- Crime and Punishment - Fyodor Dostoyevsky.
I really enjoy this check-in! Here is what I finished recently:
American Wife, by Curtis Sittenfeld - This is fiction loosely based on the life of Laura Bush. I really enjoyed this!
Secrets of the Baby Whisperer for Toddlers, by Tracy Hogg - I got more out of this than the Baby Whisperer books for babies
3:16, by Max Lucado - This is a Christian book. I really enjoy this author and heard great things about this book. I liked it, but it definitely was not one of my favorites.
In addition to these 3, I forgot to add that I read the last 3 books in the twilight series, so can you please add that to my total of books read? Thanks!
I finished Queen of Bable in the Big City. It was a follow up to The Queen of Babble, about a girl who just can't keep anything a secret and it always gets her in trouble. The first book took place in England and France, and this last one in NYC. There is one more to the series, now I have to get it from the library. The books remind me of the Shopaholic series in a way. I recommend them for some easy chick-lit reading.
I'm now reading Are You There Vodka? It's Me Chelsea, by Chelsea Handler. I'm normally not into these comidian "memoir" books, but this is the second I've read this year. It's really funny so far.
I'm glad I caught this post - I've seen the badges and have been wondering how to join. Quick question, though: Do all books count, or just "novel" types?
*Your 2009 goal - 50
* How many books you have completed thus far - 6, half of which are "baby manuals"
* The book you are currently reading - Star Trek: The Next Generation - Dyson Sphere (you'll see a lot of ST novels on my list)
* And any recommendations YOU have for us! - All the Harry Potter books
Happy Reading!!! - Thanks! And thanks for running this noteworthy endeavor!!!
I am still working on Drums of Autumn. So nothing to change on the spreadsheet for me.
I did want to add though that I read Paula Deen's memoir last year and it was SO funny and inspirational if anyone likes reading autobiographies. I highly recommend it. It would probably be better though if you did at least know who she is and had seen her before..I have been a fan of hers for years..even before she was on tv I had eaten at her restaurant and I bought her very first cookbook when it first came out. I love her shamelessly. Go get that book girls.
I'm reading Mister Posterior and the Genius Child by Emily Jenkins
I am loving this book, it's easy to read and very thought provoking.
I'd like to join!
