photo outfit suggestions

After months of crazy schedules and illness, we are finally taking DS to have his 1 year photos.  We are just going to JCP since we've had such great luck.  I have no idea what the backgrounds will be like.....I'm thinking just basic.  I haven't decided if we will do one with cake or not.  DH is pretty opposed to more diaper pictures, which I think I'm ok with.  But I am at a total loss for what to dress him in.  Anyone feel like posting any of their DC's pics to inspire me?  We used a stuffed dog for his newborn pics.  Is that too cliche to use it for the 1 year pics?  TIA!!!!

    One more question......DH bought DS a ball cap before he was born.  It's a hat from a university that just so happens to be DS's initials.  It's too big to fit his head but I wondered about bringing it with us too.  WDYT??

    I say go for it.  He could always just hold it... or maybe do something like this:

    That is DH's 7 3/4 OSU hat.  While DS's head is big, it's not that big.  Granted, this pic was taken before he was sitting up so I'm not sure how that would work now.

    I say take the cap with you.  You never know what the photographer will come up with.  Here is one of Griffin's 5 month pics from JCP.  He's wearing a sweater outfit.

    I would go to Baby Gap- the sales people there will def. help you with putting together some outfits- or just check out their displays for ideas. ?They have great classic clothes imo.

    I think that ball cap would be totally adorable in the pictures.  JCP always suggests that you bring in a favorite toy or stuffed animal that they like, and Justin doesn't really have anything that he carries everywhere.  However, if Caleb does, that might be a thought.

     

    For Justin's one year pics, he wore Snoopy overalls and a t-shirt in some, and then I had a baby basketball outfit that he wore in the others.  They gave him a basketball to use for some of them.  They turned out really cute.

    We did two outfits for one year pics, one was casual (plaid shorts & a double-layer tank top) and one was a fancy dress. Of course that doesn't really help you since Caleb is a boy :-) Personally I like diaper pics better for little babies. I'd go ahead and bring along everything you're considering, the photographer may have ideas or suggestions. Our 1 year pics (also JCP) turned out great, but that was more because it was first time they got Piper to smile versus because of what she was wearing...I really loved the close-ups they took, too...

    Here are Ethan's one year from JCP but I am not much help since they are diaper pics!!  We also did one in his Christmas outfit, a red sweater, black cords, and a black newsboy cap, but he was standing by a marble pillar and I did not like that pic at all.
