I've always viewed Ikea as "college/single furniture." Cute stuff, inexpensive, but not really for the long term.
But the more I think about it, the more Ikea isnt sounding too bad. H and I are on a budget, and Baby Bargains gave the Ikea crib an "A" grade.
Thoughts? Would you buy an Ikea crib, or just suck it up and pay the extra money for a nicer one?
Re: Thoughts on Ikea crib/dresser?
I'd go with an Ikea crib, I'm on a tight budget too, and our little peanut is sleeping in a hand me down crib with baby teeth marks all over it lol! It does have a good mattress though!

Just went to Ikea this weekend. I looked at the cribs again but I wasn't sold. They look really cheaply made. Very good prices but they are not the sturdiest looking.
p.s. I bought a 3 drawer dresser this weekend for $40!!!. Looks very sturdy!
I would do it if we didn't have DD's crib to use (which we bought at Walmart b/c at the time we didn't live near an Ikea). I see it as the furniture I am using in the nursery will be used for a few years and then donated or sold on craigslist. I am not looking for family heirlooms. If it is safe and is good enough quality to withstand multiple children, then that is all I need.
Of course appearance is another factor, and I would not buy something I didn't like the looks of because it will be around for a few years. I personally try to balance my taste with staying in our budget.
We also got the Gulliver crib (in white) at Ikea along with the Hemnes changing table and wardrobe. They look fantastic and it was especially important to us to get furniture with small footprints since we live in a pretty small space.

We have the crib and base of changing table put together so far. (We put our own drawer pulls to match our nursery theme).
Sure! why not? Especially since it got good reviews in Baby Bargains.
I'm planning on buying a crib from WalMart for under $200. I just simply can't afford to spend $500+ on a crib
We're getting both the Leksvik crib/toddler bed conversion and the dresser with changing table top. Most of our house is furnished with Ikea, as was our previous place, and I absolutely love it. Despite what you might think, it's actually all very durable, and I like that it's more environmentally friendly (smaller footprint) than most other brands of furniture.
Everyone in Europe swears by Ikea - I can honestly say that I don't know very many people who have no Ikea at all in their homes, and these are people from all different backgrounds, both financially and style-wise.
I say go for it!
