If you bought a Lansinoh pump on clearance at Meijer...

I have been thinking about buying the Lansinoh pump that Meijer has on clearance for $60.  I have a Medela PISA that did not work so well for me--not blaming it on the pump b/c LC's have told me that some people just do not produce much when pumping--but I thought for only $60 it couldn't hurt to try another kind.

Anyway- I was in the Florence Meijer and they had one left.  I purchased it and on my way out I noticed that the seal was broken.  Everything inside looked to be in tact and unused, but still, it's a breast pump so I didn't want to chance it.  I turned right around and got my money back.  When I got home I called every Meijer in the area to see if they had one in stock, and not one of them did until I called the very last Meijer on the list.  I specifically asked if the box looked okay and she said "actually it looks like someone opened it to see what is inside, but everything inside is sealed up."

So... now I'm thinking that if the only two left in the Cincinnati area both had broken seals on the boxes, then maybe all of the clearanced Lansinoh pumps were like this?  If you bought one, did yours have a broken seal on the box but have everything sealed up inside?

Re: If you bought a Lansinoh pump on clearance at Meijer...

  • Butting in... I was at the Meijer in Florence on Saturday, and was looking also at the breast pump on clearance. ?I walked around the store and went back to electronics and there was a clearance rank back towards the wall and there was a breast pump sitting on the bottom. I'm not sure what brand it was, or if Meijer could do a merchandise scan of what they had in the store? ? Just wanted to share! ?Good Luck!!!?

  • Nope, mine was sealed.

  • Um, IDK! :) Sorry I am no help. This is sound familiar...like the outside seal wasnt' broken but wasn't closed closed, but everything inside was still shrink wrapped, but I could be hallucinating this since you just said it. I'm slightly sleep deprived today.
  • I'm curious how long you used you Medela Pump In Style? I actually had the exact same problem as you did with my first, not producing for a pump. I'm really worried about this happening again, so I've been talking to LeLeche League people as well as a few lactation consultants to make sure it doesn't happen again.

I have the Ameda Purely Yours which I bought because it was exactly the same as the Medela yet a "closed" loop meaning the milk couldn't get to the motor. I used it for only a month really, 2 times a week.

Anyway, every lactation person has told me the same thing. Even though the pumps are the #1 and #2 ones they suggest, and the best, they told me to try Medela because my body could react different to it. Maybe the Ameda would work for you this time.

Anyway, if you might be interested at all, maybe we could switch pumps. I wasn't really considering getting a used Medela, but I'm not crazy about buying another new pump either.

Oh yeah, and they also did not suggest renting a hospital grade one for me either. I thought I could try the hospital grade Medela for a couple months to "get me going" and then switch if it was working out. They said that was a bad idea because my body will get confused.

  • The seal was broken on mine too.  I didn't even notice.  I may be returning it...I won't need it for quite some time.  Are you interested?
