I was on the fence about this, strongly leaning towards no when I got an email from our doula with some great facts, studies, websites. If anyone is interested let me know and I will forward it to you. I'd post it but I don't want to 1. post unsolicited advice and 2. it's pretty long.
Re: Circumcision
Thanks for the open offer of info... unlike the chick earlier trashing Obama...
I appreciate your sensitivity...
My cousin's a doula, and my brother-in-law is an OB... We don't know what we're having yet, but I'm leaning to the yes if given the choice.
Let me see if I can Copy and paste it into a PM to you. Check your PM in a min!
I am Jewish too (but not too religious), but I was just having a hard time finding a solid reason to do it. This info really helped me to make my decision.
I am not super-religious either--I would be doing the whole ceremony more for the family than for myself or the baby. As far as the circumcision itself I guess it is something I never really gave much thought to.. kind of like college.. I just thought it was what I was supposed to do after high school... I thought if you have a boy, he has a bris, it was never really something that I thought about. I enjoy listening to what people have to say though!
I totally know what you mean. My immediate family isn't religious but extended is more so, so my cousins' babies have all had a bris and it's definitely expected. If you are interested just let me know and I'll PM you the email I got.
To everyone else who asked - check your PMs
I know there is info everywhere, but this was clear and easy for me to understand so I appreciated it.
i'd like the info too - dh and i are just starting to discuss this.

I am Jewish but not religious. We prob wont do a bris (should it be a boy) but are planning on having the baby cirumsized. It's healthier for the baby you know.

JCM - I'd like it if you get the chance. Thanks.
I did my research end in the end decided to circ ds but it's one of those things that I always seem to be on the fence about so additional information is always welcome.
I do think that if we have another boy and decide to circ him as well that I will see about having a mohel perform the circumcision rather than having it done at the hospital.
I would love that info too! Thanks.
Also, how does one check PMs?
Maybe I don't have a heightened sense of smell, but I've never smelled any vagina on my pants. -- TSD
