Scheduling the photog GTG

Ok, so we definitely have interest! Just to clear things up as far as "legality" is concerned, this is not a business gig. This is first a social GTG and second a chance to get some great shots of the little ones. I would hope that anyone who is willing to shoot would still bring their little ones.

Also, any photographers looking to make money from this are at the wrong GTG. Although I'm sure a lot of us would be honored to have our kids as part of a portfolio I don't think it's fair to use them as marketing material and charge them. At any rate, I am happy to shoot, correct and give you hi-res files on CD for free. What you do with those is up to you. Anyone not willing to offer the same should not shoot but is more than welcome to attend. I will have a studio set up and a natural scene (my backyard) with some props and aids (bumbo/boppy, moses basket, etc). Second, we need to figure out a date that will work for the majority of people. Morning/early afternoon or early evening is best for natural lighting which is best for photos. Since I'm offering my house why don't I start? These days work best for me/us -

02/26 - Thursday
03/07 - Saturday
03/08 - Sunday
03/12 - Thursday

What are your thoughts?

Weekdays are best for me, with Sunday 3/8 being an ok weekend.

Since I'm far, i would prefer not early morning b/c i would never make it up there

Of those dates I would have to try really hard to make it on the 26th or the 12th, could possibly move around my work-from-home days. The other two we'll be up in Disney, so it'll be impossible to make that.

I like either Thursday... (I like the 12th more because Nadia will be 4 months the next day and it will give her some more time to practice holding her head up) :-)

This is such a great idea Dawn- you're AWESOME!!! I'm good either the 26th or the 12th.... I'm in Orlando the 7th and 8th. Anytime is good for us.

I prefer a weekday, but any of those days will be fine for me. I like late morning, early afternoon. Early evening is always cranky time for my little one!

Weekdays are best for me but I'll wait until a date is set (and it gets closer) to make a final decision. I really hope I can make it though!

Oh, I was planning on giving out high res files... Others may not run their business that way though. Everyone who I shoot at *any* GTG is always more than welcome to color corrected high res files! Either way, I always use a model release especially when dealing with children, even when I take pictures of my friends. Always have, always will. No one wants to get sued!

Either 2/26 or the weekend dates would work for me!

i just saw this post ... sounds like a great idea. i know i am little biased but noah happens to love the camera (ok - a LOT biased). most weekdays would work for me as long as it is late morning or early afternoon. i dont check here often - so can you email me details when it is figured out? chez623 at yahoo

for me weekend in march is great! but probably would be able to make it also to the 12th if I can get someone to get give me a ride....don't know if I'll be able to drive yet....don't know what kind of delivery I will end up with.

Awww...I would love to see you guys and get Diego together with his nesties friends before I have the baby.

Also, I asked dh and he can go as a photographer as long as its on Sunday March 8 (any time). Its the only day we have off

Can also make it on Saturday March the 7th but if its in the morning.?

Saturday and Sunday work best for me anytime during the day. If it ends up being on a Thursday I'll try my best to leave work early but chances are I could only make it in the late afternoon. I'll probably be one of the last ones to show up. I REALLY hope I can make it!!

Dawn, You're awesome. I would love to go. Just depends on my delivery date and stuff, so I can't commit to any particular day/time, but if I'm available I'll be there. Just let me know what you decide. You've got my email.

If I can make it, then I will also volunteer to bring some food to feed the masses that appear to be poised to descend upon your house Can't promise anything homemade since I don't know what kind of shape I'll be in depending on how old the new one is (or if s/he has arrived by then!).

Thursdays are good for me for early morning. I am not sure what you mean by early, but I can be there from 10 until 1:30 or so. Saturdays I can do any at any time. Sunday I serve at church, so I wouldn't be able to be there until about 1p.m. but I can be there for the early evening, however, if sunday is the BEST date for everyone else, I can get away form church for one weekend, no problem. I cannot wait, and for once I can go up there ;o)

Of course I would not charge anything! I don't know where that whole subject came up because I for one was not ever thinking of this as a business opportunity - I don't think anyone who responded on here was. (I think everyone can agree that in the past 6+ years I've been on these boards, I have never once pimped myself out or tried to get business using these boards - which a LOT of others have done). Of course I would love to bring Chase, but I don't really know what I would do with him while I was taking pictures...he's still a newborn so I'm not really comfortable yet just passing him around. I've never gone out with him yet, so this is all kind of new to me with how I would handle being out with him "in public."
