A man pulled out in front of me while I was going 40 MPH down Chimney Rock.... It was a big suburban and he was on his cell phone (go figure).. I swerved to avoid hitting him head on, and ended up going over the curb and onto the side walk... I slammed on the brakes and came within about 2 feet of a light pole... We are 100% fine and the car wasn't damaged at all. We came to a very smooth stop and even going over the curb there was no feeling like we were going to flip... Had I been in my old car I would have done some real damage to the underside and who knows what else... The A-HOLE didn't even stop... he just waved and kept going.... I love my Volvo....

XC90... we bought it for the safety rating.. I loved my Toyota... but it would not have performed like that in this situation....
