We used to do these once a week, and I loved them. They really helped keep my motivated and keep my "green" focus.
So...what have you done that is eco-friendly this week? I'll start:
1. Made a reusable sandwich wrap. It's freaking awesome -- Snap-closing, with PUL on the outside, suedecloth on the inside. Thus, it can be used to store/transport the smammich, and also as a cloth napkin. Now I want more of them.
2. Used glass bowls in the fridge instead of ziplocs.
3. Bought previously-loved CDs from Jenni.
4. Focused on turning lights off behind me.
5. Donated outgrown kids' clothing to a charity.
6. Swapped out a standard soap pump to a foaming pump in Joanie's bathroom.
Re: Eco-achievement poll.
I joined freecycle and I am going to give away some detergent I don't use anymore.?
This is wonderful - I always got such great ideas from these!
I have:
1. Not made any "extra" purchases. ?Only what we truly need.
2. Will be buying eco-friendlier party supplies & favors for J's b'day party on Saturday (it's at a museum so I won't be using real plates/cloth). ?No balloons.
3. Remembered to unplug the automatic sprinkler system during these rainstorms we've been having.?
4. Turned down the temp on the thermostat a couple of degrees.?

I bought and received some used small glass containers for my oatmeal mix that I take to work so I'll stop using ziploc baggies. I'll also use them for the sugar and tea I bring in. I received some old creme brulee dishes from my grandma (I had planned on buying some new).
I'm reusing glass jars for leftovers instead of using plastic wrap/ ziploc bags.
And I'm researching and planning on vermicomposting soon and I'm planning to grow a small garden this year.
Continued the slow switch to glass storage.
Working on freecycling a bunch of stuff that's just sitting around taking up space and tempting me to trash it.
Excitedly waiting for it to be warm enough to go back to taking public transport instead of driving...but not quite there yet
Creating two gifts that get wrapped in part of the gift rather than in paper.
Mother's Day, 2011
I bought a sewing machine this weekend! That is shaping some of my eco-friendly actions right now
(I am ridiculously giddy about this, despite my hilarious beginner "skills.")
1) I've been recycling fabric like crazy. I cut up some old ratty hand towels into 8"square dish cloths to use instead of sponges (Eew!), overedge-stitching them to keep them from fraying. I'm going to make an ironing board pad out of another towel, and I may make some napkins, a sewing machine cover, and a laptop slip case out of some old sheets. Fun!
2) When I finally ran out of Swiffer wet jet pads, I grabbed some microfiber cloths to use instead, and they work SO MUCH better than the disposable ones that I'm angry I ever bought those horrible things.
3) I'm working on reusing some of my more than 100 random tea tins and jars (I wish I was exaggerating) to hold spices and pantry items, and if I can't use them, I will freecycle them. I don't need the clutter!
-finally and successfully freecycled a bunch of stuff that was taking up space in our lives
-started ordering from door-to-door organics
-i kept all the lights off in the house all day yesterday until 5pm!
-I donated a bunch of books and clothing to The Purple Heart
that might be it. i think i suck.
and Glad...are you selling those sandwich wraps???
1. Gave away stuff to goodwill (rather than tossing).
2. Rescued a house plant from a friend who didn't want it anymore (does that count?).
3. In the process of purchasing used items off of CL - rather than buying new.
4. Starte feeding DS homemade baby food - less waste over store bought and we're using mostly organics!
Make a pregnancy ticker
- made a point of turning off more lights
- bought EF dishwasher detergent
- looked for more uses for vinegar and started using it as a fabric softener
- decreased my garbage to the lowest level I can remember, yay!?

1 - joined freecycle
2 - needed new shampoo so I made the switch to organic
3 - continuing to build up CD stash
Sure. Why not. I didn't have plans to market them, but I could make some for you if you'd like.
1. Sewing more unpaper towels
2. Switched my mom to more EF cleaner
3. Donated most of DS' outgrown clothes and bought him previously loved clothes
4. made valentine's gifts instead of buying?
1) Major achievement for me this week. FIL and I had a conversation about not using paper towels. DH was in the room, and I think he was shocked when FIL agreed with me! Now I don't look as crazy in DH's eyes.
2) I got DH to use a cloth napkin. Granted it was on V-Day, and we were eating in our dining room on the "fancy" dishes, but he still used it. He kept asking, "Are you going to wash these?" It's a work in process...
Cycle #11: BFP
- donated a ton of clothes to good will
- turn heat down to 60 at night
- turn off all unused lights
- bought biodegradable dog poop bags ($ but worth it)
- last week I complained to condo board about non-recycling neighbors ( I named names. they make me CRAZY!)
- converted another friend to CDs
2 infertiles' journey to 2 pink lines (and a baby girl)
"our IF story"
1. sewed a felted tote and two cozy's for my sister out of a old wool sweater somebody freecycled me
2. Hid the paper towels from DH
3. Freecycled somethings
1.) Gave away scrapbooking stuff on Freecycle
2.) Put together 2 bags of other "give away" stuff for Purple Heart
3.) Donated 2 prom dresses to a prom dress donation place
4.) Bought previously loved diapers from DS
5.) Bought fabric for mom to make CDs for me
6.) Shopped CL for a dresser for baby's room and may have found one
7.) May be buying a used Ergo from a fellow Bumpie, if she chooses me
?
1. Cloth diapering - yea! DH is actually on board as long as they are the 'easy ones' (BG's, we need more but that means more $).
2. In front of his parents last weekend DH cloth diapered the baby and asked where the 'towel napkins' were to use for dinner. That woud be cloth napkins for anyone who doesn't speak DH.
3. Using our leftover wedding tablecloths for SILs shower this weekend instead of buying plastic. Most of the decorations are reused as well - just changing out ribbon colors.
that would be super awesome! you want to just add it to my foofoofluff order?
1. Trekked out to my compost pile for the first time since all the snow melted to turn it.
2. Have been bringing cloth bags to the store for over three years now (why do cashiers have a need to put everything in a plastic bag?)
3. Making the transition from Tupperware to glass storage.
4. Started our CD stash and pulled out old fabric to sew into wipes this weekend!
I get so many great ideas from this board!
We can do that. Do me a favor, and shoot me a convo, okay? We can figure out the deets over there.
Line dried some of my clothes inside.
Bought a compost tumbler and started composting.
Made more organic homemade baby food.
Started unplugging appliances not in use.
Kept tv off during the day.
-We finally bought the bed soffa we had been eyeing for ages secondhand (was worth it to wait for it and not just buy it new)
-Am freecycling out old futon
-Finished handmaking a gift
-Skipped all thing commercial for V-day
-Wrapped three presents today in old newspaper sheets, (but pretty full color pages)
-Switched out three light bulbs for CFL bulbs
I'm new here so some of these might seem obvious but I'm trying. I haven't been as EF as I should be so I'm on a new mission to kick it up a notch! (and these were recent but not w/in a week)
-Switched to a glass hand soap bottle in bathroom, instead of plastic ones
-shopped at local amish farmers market
-ordered mama pads to try
-was using Tide coldwater but ordered EF detergent from Etsy
-removed myself from mailing list for catalog I don't use
-got Produce Saver containers so I don't use ziplocs
