2nd Trimester

here's a weight post for ya-

I know we all cringe at the idea of a weight post, although most are innocent enough, I just got an idea. I'm not really worried about gaining weight, granted I don't want to get out of control, but I'm not trying to not gain. But to be honest the thing that has me most freaked out is that by the time DD is born I may weigh as much as my DH! idk, flame if you must, but is anyone else in the same boat?

  • LOL! I better not!!! DH weighs 260! (He's 6'5''!)

  • With #1 I left DH in the dust.

  • Getting close already....
  • My husband laughed when the doctor told me I should only gain 25 pounds.  He'd done the math in his head - since the nurse had just weighed me with him in the room, he'd figured out that I'm only "allowed" to weigh as much as him.  He found this very entertaining.
  • I weighed more than DH when we got married...so this can't and will never really apply to me.

  • I will weigh MORE than DH!  That is inevitable.  Sucks but what can  you do?
  • I'd freaking shoot myself if I weighed as much as dh at the end of this pregnancy!!! I'm 5'3" and about average sized..... dh is 6'2" and weighs 216 so that would be horrifying on my frame!!!!!!!
  • My DH has said in the past, that the only time I can out-weigh him is when I am pregnant - but the way he is 'sympathy eating' there is no way I'll catch up to him!

  • DH and I joke that it will be a milestone in my pregnancy when I weigh more than him.  I have no problem with it and neither does he.  I'm not there yet but it won't be long.
  • I'm not too concerned with this - for one, FI is a skinny SOB and I already outweigh him by a few pounds. And two, it's me plus a baby, extra blood, a placenta, etc. that make up my weight - FI only has himself.
  • It could happen. ?I started out at 148 and MH weighs close to 200. ?I certainly hope I don't gain that much, but it is certainly possible!

  • LOL  - I will be honest I did the math once or twice figuring out how much I could gain without matching him.

  • Lord have mercy, if I catch up with DH I'm screwed. He's 230.
  • Pre-pregnancy, DH weighed about 80 lbs more than me...if I catch him, I must have done something terribly, terribly wrong!

  • i hope not- i'd be in some serious trouble! dh is 6' 3" with broad shoulders and an athletic build. he's got about 80lbs on me pre-preg.
  • I WEIGHED MORE THAN MY HUSBAND BEFORE I GOT PREGNANT. I STARTED OUT AT 154 AND DH WEIGHS 146 (HE IS VERY TALL AND SKINNY) SO I  FEEL NO PITTY FOR YOU.....BY THE TIME THIS THING IS OVER, I WILL WEIGH ABOUT 40 LBS MORE THAN HIM, SO THERE!

Me too! Now, I just don't want to way as much as two DHs!Stick out tongue

  • My secret solution to this is to have DH gain weight with my.  I'm sly.  "Oh honey I can't eat the last bites, don't waste food, you eat it. . ." Okay I'm not actualy sly about it, but he has started gaining more weight than I have already. . .lol.

That's brilliant! I'm married to the guy that everyone jokes has a tapeworm as he can eat and eat and doesn't seem to gain a pound on his skinny, tall frame. Me, not so much!

  • DH is 6'1" 230 lbs.  I hope I don't catch up to him.  I'd have to gain WAAY more weight than the already large amount I've gained.
  • We have a scale that "remembers" your weight from before and also analyzes body fat. Anyway, when you first get the scale, you can program up to 2 profiles for the scale and enter a starting weight, age, etc. DH is profile 1 and I am profile 2. However, when I got on the scale yesterday, the scale thought I was profile 1, because I was so far away from profile 2's starting weight.

DH still weighs more than I do (he's over 6 foot and muscular), but he's been losing weight, so our paths certainly may cross by the end of the pregnancy.

  • Me!  My DH is tall (6'2") slim and usually weighs about 40 pounds more than I do. Well, I've already gained 8 lbs and I'm only at 15w5d... I'm a bit freaked that I'll weigh the same as him?or more.

  • That will hopefully never happen.

I am 5'2", and MH is 6'6" and about 230lbs so lets hope we don't even get close!

  • I weighed more than DH to start.  6'4" and skinny as a dang twig.  Though he's starting to gain now, while I'm not, so maybe he'll pass me up.....

  • i doubt that i will gain enough to weigh as much as he does because that would be like 70lbs

  • I hope I don't, my husband is 6' 7" and weighs about 260 I am a bigger girl but I don't think I will get close to that. I hope not anyways Stick out tongue

  • I just take comfort in the fact that even if I gain at the rate I'm on right now, I shouldn't reach my biggest weight from college when I was really heavy -- and I lost 70 lbs from that, so I can do it again!  Motivation is key!
  • I gained 60lbs last time and I still didn't out weigh him.  He put on some sympathy weight.  This time I am hoping I don't though, because it was so hard for me to lose it the first time.

  • Whoa - there's a thought. I think that would weird me out. Hmm... DH is still about 20-25 lbs more than me, so hopefully I'll stay under. I think as long as I still weigh less post-birth, then I'll feel okay.

It's funny what little landmarks we have. I'm about 3 lbs away from passing my heaviest weight in my life. Granted, I wasn't pg at the time, but it still admittedly has me a little freaked.

  • I would not be happy if I end up weighing more than my husband. It is very possible. I am 14 weeks and so far have only gained 1 pound. I now weigh 124 and the hubby weighs about 156. Anything is possible. I just hope that it doesn't get that out of control.
