I will be 18 weeks by the end of this week, and I have only gained 4 pounds throughout my pregnancy. I know that some women will lose throughout the whole pregnancy, but I am very petite. I am 5'1 and weighed 94lbs when I found out I was pregnant. I have always had a fast metabolism and have had trouble putting on weight my whole life. My appetite has tripled since becoming pregnant, and everytime I step on the scale I think my weight will have gone up. I am so frustrated and worried about what affect this will have on my baby.
Is there anyone else having trouble gaining weight?
Re: Anyone else? (weight question)
It's a GIRL!!
What does your ob say?
I am 5'2" and am also petite. I haven't gained any weight either...exept for a pound maybe? but my weight fluctuates 2-3 pounds normally anyway.
My Ob said that as long as I'm not losing weight then not to worry but I have my next appt on Monday and will be asking her again.

In fairness, she did put it in her subject so if anyone didn't want to read it. she's just worried.
Weight questions tend to get a little crazy on here.
Talk to your Doctor but I think you are fine. Everyone is different. My first pregnancy I gained 17 pounds and my daughter was 8 pounds 6 ounces. As long as you are eating and being healthy I think you are fine. My Doctor actually told me she does not expect weight gain until week 20. Of course often you will gain before but she says she only gets concerned after 20 if you have not gained.
Don't worry. You are just small. Lots of weight gain does not always equal healthy. Our bodies are all very different.
Yes, and although many women are about to jump all over your ass for asking a weight question, I will say I'm in your shoes and freaked out b/c I am having twins and am still down 3. (But I haven't been 94 lbs in like 15 years). I just have to let go of what I've read (24 lbs in 24 weeks to prevent low birthweight!) and trust my dr. The babies are measuring ok, and that's all I can worry about at a time. What does your Dr. say??
At my last appointment, he wasn't too worried about it.
Today, he showed me a weight chart of how a normal pregnant woman gains weight compared to how I am. So I know that he is worried about it. We have our ultrasound scheduled for March 10th, and until I see that everything is okay- I am going to worry.
uh oh....a weight post...not too many ladies like these...
but to answer your question i'm 20 weeks and have not gained a pound. lol... i know my pics in my siggy say otherwise, but i'm the EXACT same weight i was before my BFP. don't worry, as long as you're consuming enough nutrients you're fine. All women are different in how they gain weight.
on anothe rnote, my doc told me that yor body will rearrage your body during pregnancy even if you haven't gained weight to make the "belly" for your baby. weird huh? lol. That's how i got my "bump"
when it comes to weight, my doc has consistently said "Eat when you are hungry. Eat as healthy as you possibly can."
If you're doing that and your doc isn't concerned, relax and enjoy the ride. The weight will come. Promise.

Jesus h what is with all the dire warnings about posting. The girl is nervous, it's not like she's bragging about her figure.
Would the same finger wagging come out if someone posted they were worried they had gained too much?
B*TCH!
j/k - I'm sure your Dr would say something if it were an issue, you can try drinking ensure WITH meals also...
I don't believe anyone was finger waving, we just know how p*ssed people get about these kind of posts and giving her fair warning about possible responses to come.

Yes. The finger gets wagged at ALL weight posts, because everyone is so different.
And yes, it sort of IS like she's bragging about her figure.
Well, ok. Though I disagree with your 2nd statement, I guess it depends on how it's interpreted.
If your OB isn't worried, then you shouldn't be worried about your weight either. Ask your OB your questions, your concerns, if you're worried that much about it.
I would normally be pretty unforgiving with a weight post, but you actually posted your size, frame, build, etc. That narrows down your window of people who can actually answer your question - so hopefully if there is anyone else out there who is in a similiar situation with a similar build, they can offer you more detailed advice. For example, I'm 5'8 and have a high metabolism, so I can't help you in that department.
Like I said, consult your OB if you're really worried.
People who get upset about weight posts should just not read them, instead of belittling a person with a genuine concern. It seems like they have stayed away from this thread so far, though.
I am NOT in any way bragging about my figure. I just needed reassurance that it is somewhat common, that other people have this problem too, and that my baby can still be healthy & okay.

FWIW, I didn't think you were bragging about your figure. Some women are naturally smaller, weigh less, etc. It's nothing to point (or waggle) fingers at.
Now if she had said something like, "I'm a size zero and I'm totally staying that way, isn't it awesome? How about you?" - then I would see the bragging problem.
I can't help you much, but I am 5'3" I wieghed 103 pre-pregnancy. I have gained about 14 pounds so far... But like pp said I am sure that as long as you are eating healthy and your OB is not concerned that everything is ok. Everyone's body responds to pregnancy in a different way, I am sure everything is ok!
I'm new to this board, but I just thought I would try to reassure you.
As others have stated, every pregnancy is different. I'm not sure how wondering about not gaining much weight during pregnancy is bragging, but whatever. Personally, I lost 20 lbs in the first four months from severe morning sickness, I've only put about 5lbs of that back on.
Now that I have started gaining though, my doc isn't worried and as long as the baby is healthy and measuring in the correct range.
My best advice is..."If your doctor isn't worried, don't stress about it."
