Shower Wishing Well

Has anyone ever heard of this? I have never heard of this before, but I am invited to a shower that is doing this in addition to the registry gifts. ? The items to put in the wishing well sound an awful lot like registry gifts and/or grocery shopping for them.

I am sort of annoyed by it. ?Can you tell? ?

  • i have never heard of that.  wth.  let us know more details if no one posts here about it.

  • I've never heard of that either.
  • I've been told to bring a book or diapers along with my gift. I usually cut back on the gift from the registry to get the book/diapers.

  • The party organizers are asking us contribute to the wishing well, which are nonwrapped nonlabeled gifts. ? They are to include:
kitchen gadgets, oven mitts, kitchen towels, envelopes, stamps, paper, batteries, soap, guest towels, night ligths, seed packets, gloves, hand tools, kneeling mat, tea bags, coffee, strainer, filters, luggage ID, crossword puzzles, soduku puzzles, screwdriver, hammer, electrical tape, suntan lotion, water bottle, sunglasses, votive candles, nail polish, yoga cd.
  • It sounds more like you're building a little survival kit for them for after the baby comes. The items don't sound too bad...I've heard of similar things for bridal showers (honeymoon/wedding kits).

I don't know why the suntan lotion and sunglasses are there though. Maybe it's all for a game of some sort...

  • Its for a wedding shower, not baby shower. ??
  • WTF?  Why do people getting married need sodoku puzzles and nail polish?  I am sure they would have these items if they were single as well.  I don't understand.

  • Okay, now it sounds like a honeymoon kit. Votives for romance, sudoku for a plane ride, etc...

That is the strangest thing I have ever heard!  Some of it sounds like honeymoon survival stuff, but the rest is definitely registry items.  I'd get a couple of cheap seed packets and call it a day.

  • really weird.  i thought you meant baby shower too.  but still weird either way.  maybe it will be part of a game, but who knows.

are you going?  if so, let us know.

  • I've heard of it, but it's usually a place to drop cash, which I think is even tackier!

If' I'm asked to bring "extras" like that, I cut back on what I'd spend for a shower gift to accommodate the additional cost.
