Babies on the Brain

Anyone experienced this? (pregnancy-related)

Today, I was shopping at Babies R Us in Buffalo ( I'm from Canada) and I started having these really horrible cramps.  If I bent over or sat down, they felt a bit better, but as soon as I stood up I could barely walk.  They felt like very bad menstrual cramps.

I nearly panicked thinking that I was going into premature labour!

But then, about 10 minutes later, I was fine.

Anyone else had something similar happen?  I have an appointment with my OBGYN tomorrow anyway, and will obviously ask him about it, but just curious if anyone knows what the heck I'm talking about.

  • Did your belly harden or was it just an internal feeling?

  • Maybe Braxton-Hicks? I really have no idea what those are...I guess google it if you're not sure. Sorry I can't be more helpful!
  • You can't ask a question like this and not hang out to respond to questions! I'm trying to help you here!

  • Sorry!

I'm pretty sure I know what Braxton-Hicks contractions are (meaning that I think I've been having them) and they don't really hurt.

These just felt like really bad menstrual cramps...no tightening feeling.  And they didn't come and go, so after a few minutes I figured out that my worries about "premature labour" probably didn't make sense...

  • Perhaps just more ute stretching, and organs moving to accommodate your belly hog. Definitely bring it up tomorrow but you're probably okay since it went away.

If I remember correctly (it's been a while), I KNEW BH, and I KNEW real contrax when they happened, but there were a number of random pains that felt like neither of those.

  • Thanks for your reply :)

I actually kind of like the Braxton-Hicks feeling - that probably sounds very odd.  But I guess I like that it's another sign that my body knows what it's doing.

This morning I got some really weird feelings while I was throwing up (yup, still got some morning sickness) I DEFINITELY think that was the "my organs are moving to places they aren't supposed to be" feeling.

I'm glad I had an OB appointment tomorrow - will at least put my mind at ease!

  • I had that occasionally when I was pg. Usually it was when I had been overdoing it. When I rested, it stopped.
