Infertility

RE in Pittsburgh, Cleveland area SAIFW

I am currently looking for rec. of an RE in the Pittsburgh or Cleveland area. In the Pittsburgh area I can't see anyone that is part of UPMC because of my Health insurance. Also is there anyone to stay away from.

Thanks!

  • Do you have an option to search for a doctor on your insurance website? You can also call and ask for them to send you a list of the providers they cover. Reproductive health specialists are in Pittsburgh...not from the area so I dont know much. You can check out the stats of any clinic at SART.org

  • SART.org also has a search option under IVF success rates to find a clinic

  • Thank you so much for your help!!
  • If Cleveland is an option for you, you might want to consider the Cleveland Clinic Fertility Center. ?We're 2+ hrs away but wouldn't dream of going to another clinic - they're one of the best in the country. ?

  • I will second the Cleveland Clinic Fertility Center.  Luckily I'm only 30 minutes away!
  • Yes, Cleveland Clinic is an option for me. Which doc there do you reccomend?? I  am about an hour and a half away.
  • To all who go to Cleveland Clinic Fertility Center, Do you go to the Beechwood Location? Also can you go the other locations for monitoring? I looked at the SART site and it seems that the rate of success for IVF is pretty high compared to other clinics.
  • I also go to the Clinic.  I'm actually considered a main campus patient.  However, all of the ERs & ETs are done in Beachwood. I go to another location, closer to home, for all my monitoring.

Thanks for the informations. Which RE do you go to? Also which are ones to avoid if any at the clinic

  • I do my monitoring locally but go to the Beachwood location for ERs and ETs.  The other CC offices are always options for monitoring, but procedures are handled thru Beachwood.  As for who to see, it depends on where you are in the TTTC process.  I see Dr Goldfarb, who is the director of their IVF department.  I've also seen Dr Austin and Dr Peskin for ETs and they're both very nice.

Would  Dr. Goldfarg be the doctor I should ask for a consult with?  or someone else? I have done some research tonight and he seems  to come highly recomended

  • It depends which location you want to go to and as smeyer said, what step you are at.  If  you want to start out at the Beachwood location, I have heard good things about Dr Goldfarb, Dr Peskin & Dr Austin.  If you call and tell then where you are at in the process, they will help set you up with the right Dr.  Just keep in mind that if/when you get to the point of IVF, the RE you see will not necessarily be the one who does your ER & ET.  GL!

  • i second dr. goldfarb.  i'm seeing him now.  just an fyi, if you're on 50mg clomid, they don't really monitor you unless you insist.  other than that, i love him!  he's very very smart and always willing to chat with you on the phone if you have any questions that come up.

  • In Pittsburgh, I've heard good things about the Jones Institute at West Penn and RHS (Reproductive Health Specialists).  RHS has an excellent success record, according to SART.  I'm at Magee, so I can't give you first hand stories, but I thought I'd throw that out there.  I know several people who have been thrilled with Dr. Kubik.
