Trying to Get Pregnant

Target BBT users, I need your help

This is my first cycle charting, which is naturally a bit stressful...but I think I realized why it's particular stressful for me.  It's a new thermometer, so I had no reason to think the battery would below...but I just realized after I turn it on it says 97.70 and then 'Lo'.  I'm sure I sound like an idiot with this question, but does that mean the battery is low?  I've been frustrated with the thermometer beeping too quickly and giving me a reading after 30 seconds, and I guess I know now why it's been doing this.  Ugh.  I was so excited about charting too, and now I'm not sure I can trust any of my temps.  Has your ever said 'Lo' right before it starts to take your temp?

Re: Target BBT users, I need your help

  • I have the Target thermometer and it always does that. My CVS one also did that. I don't think it has anything to do with the battery.

  • Mines from CVS and from when I 1st bought it when I turn it on it says the exact same thing. But I've been using it for about a yr so I don't think it means anything. And it works fine
  • I use a BBT I bought off Amazon and it's the same thing.  When I first turn it on it says 97.70 and then says Lo.  That's the way the thermometer works.  I was worried too when I first started temping but I read the instructions and that's how the thermometer works.  Do you still have the insturctions to your BBT?

  • Yep, it does that. It's to indicate it's working properly apparantly. I'm sure your temps. are fine.

  • Oh damn, I thought I was a damn detective!  Thanks ladies, back to the drawing board...
  • Mine will say Lo if I don't put it in my mouth immediately.

  • I think it's just the thermometer showing that the air temperature is too low to read.  Mine does that (complete with the 97.70), and it starts registering numbers once it's in my mouth.  If I hold down the button when I first turn it on it will also show me my last temp.
  • It's low if it flashes "LO" then "b".  If it just has LO it's working fine!

  • Mine said in the directions that it flashes "Lo" when it's ready

  • Yeah It does that. I didn't notice until I was on CD 5 when I was like WTH, I can't be that flat! Just remember to get to the memory you need to leave the button pressed for a couple of seconds.
  • Yup, its okay.  It talks about it in the insert.
  • ditto pp, that's the way it works. It actually says 'batt' when your battery is dieing.

Ditto this. In the directions it says it will flash Lo when it is ready.

Nuh uh!  Wow, thank you. I was all pissed that it didn't record last temps.  I actually have a piece of paper on my nightstand and I turn on the light after it's done temping and write it down...at 5:30am!  DH is very patient.  Now that I know this, life will be much easier!  Especially on the weekends :)  Thanks so much everyone!

The Target BBT will store your last 5 temps. Wink

  • Mine does that too, I never thought to ask. I always thought the 97.70 was just for me. My ch appear on the 97.7 mark- I thought I was special. Guess not Sad
  • Mine does that too--complete with 97.70 and LO. Like a dummy, I actually spent the whole first week and a half of temping thinking that 97.70 was my saved temperature because I would take the temp when it was still dark and that would be the number when I pressed the button. Now I am careful to press the button down longer when I want my saved temp.

  • It says Lo because its not in your mouth yet, and the temp is too "lo" to measure yet. If you can watch in the mirror, as soon as you put it in your mouth the temp will start going up.
