  I believe it's a nod to the fact that when you're 17 weeks plus X days you're actually IN your 18th week. That's the prevailing theory around here anyway.

  it does that to me too.  last week on wed. i was "21 weeks" even though i wasn't officially 21 weeks till yesterday.  i think the bump wants this pregnancy to be over just as quickly was i do lol.

  The way my doctor explained it to me...

  If you're 17w3d, you have 17 weeks completed and are 3 days into your 18th week. So, you are in your 18th week.
