Are there any NFP practicers out there?

Am I the only one who practices Natural Family Planning?? I could use some good hints on returning signs of fertility after baby is born.

Thanks in advance for any input!?

  • Good Luck...see DS2. =)

I am extremely regular.  So after the post partum bleeding within 12-14 days I get my period..just like I had a normal cycle.  (I normally get my period right around 6-7 weeks pp).

I am so regular I don't temp I just go based on days (I temped before kids for several years)...and with DS2..apparently I wasn't totally back to normal because I O'd 4 days later than I normally did my 2nd cycle.  I should have been temping.

I would look for CM..but I know for me that was never that good of an indicator until it was already too late.

  • I used it to get pregnant:)  But sorry I have no input for signs of fertility after baby.  I did tell the nurse practitioner that I used that when I went in for my first appt. and she was surprised, she didnt' think anyone used it anymore.

  • I've used it our whole marriage - to avoid pg, then to plan DD.
  • I am a little late on this but have used it since we have been married and both of my pregnancies were planned.

If you can I would take a class and let the instructers know you are pp and if you are breastfeeding or not. There is a special set of rules to follow. If you have already taken a class contact your teaching couple and they should be able to point you in the right direction on how to chart to avoid when your cycle aren't back yet.

  • Thanks for the advice. You're daughter is beautiful!
  • Marriage is a means to procreating. Not the other way around. Stop NFP and concentrate on the reasons why you are getting married.

You can stay single and have sex all you want (as wrong as it may be) however, marriage is a gift from God and should be attained for the right reasons.

    This.

  • I am a Catholic and I totally support NFP if you're a) very regular and temping, b) if you are willing to wear the 50% risk it fails at least once in your lifetime, or the??20% risk it fails in any given year.

Even if you're VERY regular I would say temping is the only really reliable (in this context of the meaning of reliable) way.

BTW I did reverse NFP to have DS, and my other signs were all over the place but the temps were spot on. I conceived on day 27 btw, nowhere near where most people would.
