and the way they look?
Me and all of my sisters had dark dark hair and brown eyes (turned 10 days after birth) ,so I assumed if I had a girl it would be the same. Nope, DD has blonde hair and bright blue eyes. I absolutely love how she turned out, just not what I was expecting whatsoever!
Re: what is something that surprised you about LO
She does have long hair, I love it!
i heard somewhere that the baby looking just like DH right away is natures built in paternity test. not sure if it's true, but i thought it was interesting. DD looks a lot like DH, i don't see much of me in her yet.
DD was born looking exactly like DH. Now everyone says she's starting to look like me! (and DH and I are totally different from eachother)
As time goes by, I bet you'll see more of yourself in her!
As for my surprise, DD was born with blue eyes (as are most babies, but), they're becoming bluer and bluer (like a grey blue). Blue eyes are a very recessive gene on my dad's side but I think she lucked out and got it!
His hair is kind of red. I am brown and DH is nearly white-blond. I love my little coppertop.

I'm half-Filipina and I'm only now starting to see a tiny bit of that in DD, in her eye shape. They're still blue, though, which I think will change to brown. There is a chance, though, that they may stay light if my dad's and MIL's recessive light-eyes genes kick in.
She's fair-skinned while I'm definitely olive, and her hair is not jet black like mine but more brown, so I joke that everyone thinks I'm the nanny.

I heard this too, and DD looks more like me now than she did at birth. Same with my friend, her son was his daddy's clone, but now he looks more like her.

Aw, cute babies everywhere!
OK, now I have red hair. BUT I didn't have hair until I was four. DS was born with a full head of RED hair. A few of our German nurses had never even seen a red headed baby.
DH was in denial about his red headed DS; looked strawberry blond to him. Now there is no denying, though.
Not gonna lie - my kid was not that cute coming out, I mean, I thought he was beautiful, but his head was definitely all smushed in and he had no eyelashes or eyebrows...thank god everything got all sorted out...
It's funny, because he looks EXACTLY how I thought he would - I knew he would have my coloring, but that he would look like DH. ?All three of my siblings all have the same coloring as my mom (brown hair, light eyes) when my dad has black hair, brown eyes. ?All three of my mom's siblings also have the brown hair, light eyes coloring as well even though their mom had black hair/brown eyes. ?So even though I know the black hair/brown eye thing is dominant, and DH is so dark, I wasn't surprised that he still had my coloring...
Although, I sorta wish he had dark eyes like DH - I love brown eyes, but his baby blues are also quite adorable!?
