Babies: 0 - 3 Months

what is something that surprised you about LO

and the way they look?

Me and all of my sisters had dark dark hair and brown eyes (turned 10 days after birth) ,so I assumed if I had a girl it would be the same. Nope, DD has blonde hair and bright blue eyes. I absolutely love how she turned out, just not what I was expecting whatsoever!

Re: what is something that surprised you about LO

  • I was shocked she was born with so much hair, and I'm even more shocked that it all hasn't fallen out yet. I was born with lots of hair but it all fell out before I was 2 months. Hers is lightening up and growing longer! I will also be surprised if she has dark hair because both DH and I had really blonde hair.

  • DD was born with a lot of brown hair.  DH and I were both blond as kids and I was born bald.  I love her hair though, I hope it doesn't fall out!
  • So far, she looks JUST like DH. Nothing of me at all. I'm hoping something shows up with time. I expected her to be more of a mix!

She does have long hair, I love it!

i heard somewhere that the baby looking just like DH right away is natures built in paternity test. not sure if it's true, but i thought it was interesting. DD looks a lot like DH, i don't see much of me in her yet.

  • His gorgeous blue eyes!

  • I am just the opposite. I am surprised that DD looks just like me. She even has my fingers. Only thing she has of DH's is his bow legs (and lets hope that is just because she is tiny and they we scrunched up for awhile. Please oh please oh please.)

DD was born looking exactly like DH. Now everyone says she's starting to look like me! (and DH and I are totally different from eachother)

As time goes by, I bet you'll see more of yourself in her!

As for my surprise, DD was born with blue eyes (as are most babies, but), they're becoming bluer and bluer (like a grey blue). Blue eyes are a very recessive gene on my dad's side but I think she lucked out and got it!

  • His hair is kind of red. I am brown and DH is nearly white-blond. I love my little coppertop. :)

  • I'm half-Filipina and I'm only now starting to see a tiny bit of that in DD, in her eye shape. They're still blue, though, which I think will change to brown. There is a chance, though, that they may stay light if my dad's and MIL's recessive light-eyes genes kick in.

She's fair-skinned while I'm definitely olive, and her hair is not jet black like mine but more brown, so I joke that everyone thinks I'm the nanny.

  • I always assumed if we had a girl she would look like me and if we had a son he would look like DH (don't ask why).  We named DS after DH but he looks a lot like me (blonde hair blue eyes).  I feel like he should look like DH since hes a boy and they have the same name!

I heard this too, and DD looks more like me now than she did at birth. Same with my friend, her son was his daddy's clone, but now he looks more like  her.

  • The big cleft in his chin!
  • She has hair!! I was bald for a long time, as were my siblings.  DH had a lot of hair, but it was white blonde so you could barely see it.  Well, she is blonde, but a darker blonde that you could actually see.  She's so cute!

  • I'm surprised that she has dimples.  They're very shallow dimples and only show when she really smiles, but they're there and that's shocking to me!  Neither DH nor I have dimples.  Really no one in my family has dimples.
  • i am just surprised with how long she is. dh and i are both pretty short and she is currently in the 75th percentile for length. not sure where she gets that from!
  • Aw, cute babies everywhere!

OK, now I have red hair.  BUT I didn't have hair until I was four.  DS was born with a full head of RED hair.  A few of our German nurses had never even seen a red headed baby.

DH was in denial about his red headed DS; looked strawberry blond to him.  Now there is no denying, though.

  • i was shocked that ds looks just like me as a baby. dh looks identical to his mom and so do his siblings, where as i look like no one, so i just assumed he had dominant genes and that the boy would look just like him. i really hoped he'd get dh's lovely tan skin! alas he got my crazy pale skin!

  • Not gonna lie - my kid was not that cute coming out, I mean, I thought he was beautiful, but his head was definitely all smushed in and he had no eyelashes or eyebrows...thank god everything got all sorted out...

It's funny, because he looks EXACTLY how I thought he would - I knew he would have my coloring, but that he would look like DH. ?All three of my siblings all have the same coloring as my mom (brown hair, light eyes) when my dad has black hair, brown eyes. ?All three of my mom's siblings also have the brown hair, light eyes coloring as well even though their mom had black hair/brown eyes. ?So even though I know the black hair/brown eye thing is dominant, and DH is so dark, I wasn't surprised that he still had my coloring...

Although, I sorta wish he had dark eyes like DH - I love brown eyes, but his baby blues are also quite adorable!?
