Since I'm pg, I can't take my usual migraine meds, but the OB gave me a prescription for Midrin. Wouldn't you know I get a migraine today. Has anyone taken this? I know what to expect from my other meds (Imitrex, Relpax, etc), but I have never taken this one before. Does it knock you out or can I still function when I take it? TIA!
Re: Midrin for migraines?
I have taken Midrin in the past for migraines, and it worked well for me. It did not knock me out, so I think you'd be functional taking it.
However, I will say that my migraines have never been as bad as some I've heard about, so I don't know if Midrin would live up to some of the other medications that people take........but hopefully it will help you! But I do think you can take it and not worry about being drowsy or loopy. I would take it at work and be OK.

I doubt it will full on knock you out - but as with all migraine meds you should not plan to have to do much the first time you take it just to be sure. The "ingredients" in it are a vasoconstrictor, a mild sedative, and tylenol. That sedative could get ya depending on how sensitive you are to it
I had a bad time with Midrin - it made me really dizzy (not in a sleepy/drugged up way - more like vertigo like when you have inner ear issues.... I was totally with it but could not find my balance at all). And it gave me a weird rash. But it did make my headaches go away.

I'm sorry to be the party pooper
Sounds like everyone else but me had a fine time with it.
I really hope your head feels better soon! Hopefully if you take some tylenol it will stay away at least till you can get home and give the midrin a shot.

Thanks!
Hannah, I like your CHD banner in your siggy! I was actually born with a CHD and it's one of my fears with this pregnancy. I didn't know there was an awareness week for it.
There sure is - it's the week of Valentine's Day every year
I just took the banner down a few minutes ago. Myself, 2 of my children, my mother, my sister, my aunt, my cousin, and my grandmother all have the same CHD. So, obviously it's a cause close to my heart as well
