Update on the house showing...

So, they came early and chatted for a few minutes before we left them to it. It turns out that they are in no hurry-- they looked at a neighbor's house EIGHT months ago. <sigh> So asking about the bills and such is probably not that good a sign. They just look at every house that becomes available in our neighborhood.

They were there for over an hour, though. We had a fire going, scented candles, music, and I left a plate of cookies.

I haven't heard anything from the realtor.

Re: Update on the house showing...

  • I feel for you. I almost hate when you get that close because it just gets your hopes up. We've had our place on the market for over 8 months, and we just had an accepted offer fall through. It really, really sucks. I hope it works out for you and your house is the one they want!

  • Sorry to hear it. Maybe they will love it though and it's just what they're looking for.

On a side note, what on earth would they be doing there for an hour??

  • Maybe they're just being picky and looking for the perfect house.  It could be yours.

  • It was a second showing. They wanted to look at some specific stuff like the size of the ladder to the attic. She said that they need to store some stuff for their kids and if it didn't fit up there, blah blah blah.

I just freaking give up. I am going to be trapped in my mother's house for the rest of my life.

  • No, you won't!  You'll get out someday.  That lady sounds kind of crazy, actually...who would even bother you with that super detailed stuff when she doesn't even want to make an offer?  I hope you get a good offer soon!
  • That sucks, but hopefully since they were there for so long and asking such detailed questions it's a good sign!  House selling sucks.

  • We sold our house recently, and the guy that ended up buying it had looked at it when it first came on the market, then looked at a bunch of houses in the neighborhood for the next few months before coming back to ours and making an offer.  So you never know.  We figured since we hadn't heard from him he wasn't interested.  I almost preferred not to talk to the realtor afterwards, I figured if they wanted it we would know, I didnt want to hear how they liked it but the kitchen was too small, etc., stuff we could have guessed.  Anyway, it could still be a good sign they asked about the bills, maybe they are just being really anal?  I hope something worked out soon though, I know it is tough!
  • I'm so sorry. :(

  • Awe man....keep positive!  Remember that they were there for an HOUR, that is a long time to just be browsing.  Maybe they are finally ready to buy.  We felt like ours was never going to sell, so I totally feel your pain, just keep positive.

    Keep us posted! :)
