Dumb question of the day...

If you ever had twins would you name them matchy like: Boston and Austin or keep them each unique...

When I was younger I always wanted triplet girls named: Bubbles, Buttercup, and Blossom.   I'm so cheesy I know I would be tempted... but I wouldn't do anything worse than may the same letter like: Allison and Amanda.

  • I would keep them unique. I am not sure what we would use, but I have never been a fan of matching names for twins. I take care of triplets who have different but complimentary names. I like that.

  • How are you feeling? Can you hardly stand the excitement?
  • I think I'd rather have individual names that just worked well together- any names we come up with have to "mesh" with Aiden, if that makes sense. My best friends growing up were twins- Heather and Shannon. I think those were good twin names. Smile
  • I'm not a fan of match-matchy names... :(

  • I hate matchy-matchy names, and I wouldn't even go with the same first initial, myself.
  • I might do the same letter like Ava and Abigail...or just two names that go well together. Nothing too crazy. I have a friend who had twin girls and named them Sara and Iris...very different!!
  • I wouldn't name them mathcing names, but I have this delusion that I can name one of them I name that I really like that my DH doesn't.  Like some how, becuase there are two - I will be able to sneak a name he doesn't like past him.  LOL
  • I knew a set of twins named Mindy and Mandy in school.  I thought it was cute, but I'd pick two different names.  But thats just me.
  • My husband is an identical Twin and they were named Jeremy and Jamison (call him Jamie).

I would stick with the same letter or names that are similar, but that is just me.

  • I'm a twin, and my mother is guilty of choosing matchy names--rhyming. I might find similar names that sound nice together, but would try not to go over-board with the "matchy matchy".
  • Nope, no matchy name. I'd pick two names that sounded good on their own and that would be all I worried about. I wouldn't want them to always think they had to be a pair.
  • No matchy-matchy names here either.  I could never do 'Mindy and Mandy' to my kids.  I want them to love me not wonder what I was on when I named themBig Smile

Ditto axr - I would pick 2 separate names based on what DH and I agreed on without worrying too much about the 'pair' aspect.  Twins have a great bond but I would want them to think of themselves as individuals as well.  Just because they happened to share a womb doesn't mean that they are one unit.

  • Nope - wouldn't be matchy matchy although I have no problem teasing my friend who is pregnant with twins about matchy matchy names, which she won't do either. :-)
  • The names I picked as a child for my future kids: Rose, Lily and Violet.

So maybe just a "theme" rather than matching like Mindy and Mandy.

(And DH has agreed to put Lily on our list of possible girl names!)
