WWYD Lending Carseat?

What would you do if a friend asked to borrow one of your two convertible carseats (we have one for each car) to use on vacation. She has two of her own but says they don't fit in her carseat cover and she doesn't want to check one of them without it. My mind is already made up, I'm going to say no because:

1. We have two carseats for a reason, we use both of them.

2. I wouldn't want to risk our seat getting damaged.

3. I feel like it was overstepping bounds to ask in the first place.

I feel horrible about saying no though and I don't know why, I think maybe I feel like I'm being a jerk? So, wwyd in my situation?

i would just nicely tell her that you guys need both of them and leave it at that.

I agree w/ the PP. Just tell her you need both of yours. I really don't think it's overstepping boundaries asking you.

I agree with PPs, the easy answer is that you need both of them. I def would not feel comfortable lending mine either, who wants to worry about it and deal with it being damaged. Your friend can put her carseat in a big garbage back if the cover she has doesnt fit.

I would just say nicely you know www.safteyfirst.com sales larger carseat covers. We really use both of ours.

Would she switch with you - let you borrow one of hers while she is on vacation with yours? So you'd still have one for each car.

Be prepared for that suggestion if you say no b/c you need both.

#2 is the only reason you need.

As for #3- she can ask. Just because you don't like saying no b/c it makes you feel like a jerk doesn't mean she did something wrong to ask. Your not a jerk. Its not your job to solve her traveling dilemnas.

At first I thought you were overreacting, but on second thought, I agree with you. I have a large carseat and a very large cover for it. It's an owner's responsibility - if you want to protect your items, get a big enough cover. Or use a trash bag like pp said.

I would say no.

BTW.....My SIL has checked a britax marathon for both of her kids multiple times, never used a cover, and both of her seats are fine and are still in use(kids are 6 and 4) I think she usually gate checks them though.
