Almost flipped out today

I thought my pump took a poop.  I went to pump and only one side was suctioning.  I started examining it and couldn't find any cracks or anything else so I was flipping out about what to do.  I rely so much on my pump that I don't know what I would do without it!  I just kept thinking that I was screwed for work and I would either need to quit BFing (no way) or buy a new one which would be a total waste of money since I was sure I could get a new one straight from Lansinoh if it was broken.  So I called Lansinoh to see if they could send me a new one or if they knew what the problem was, but of course they were closed.  So I went back to pump one side at a time since that was all I could do and started examining the broken side again.  Then I pull it apart and realize there was a tear in the tiny little white valve thing.  Who knew those things were so important!?  So, crisis averted :)

Re: Almost flipped out today

  • I know how you were feeling.  I had only been back at work for about a month when one side of my PISA wouldn't suction.  I kept fiddling with the tubing and horns and eventually ended up in tears.  The stupid white valve wasn't pressed all the way in.

  • Same thing happened to me. ?I remember how freaked out I was, too. ?And of course, it was on a weekend night, during a three-day weekend. ?Now I keep extra parts around just in case! ?Cheers!
  • I've had that happen before too.  I always bring extra valves with me when I pump.

  • ha! Same thing happened to me. It was the middle of the night and I was fumbling around like an idiot. I was so relieved to find out it was just the white membrane.
