3rd Trimester

Wow....this is just f'ing great!

So Dh just got back from working in Texas for 3 weeks, only to tell me tonight (so as not to ruin V-day), that he is the most likely choice to have to make a trip to Russia now for work. Its only 10 days but the kicker is that as of right now the trip is planned for April 6th. I am due March 13! I will be home all by myself with a newborn. He is beyond upset about it but right now no one at his company is in a position to decline anything. I do have family here but it just isnt the same as having your husband by your side. He finds out on Monday if he is going. I am praying not, or that it will at least get postponed a few weeks.?

  • A month after baby comes? You'll be OK for 10 days. By that point, you might be GLAD to be a "single parent" for a few nights, lol.

  • YIKES! ?I honestly can't imagine that. ?I'll keep my fingers crossed that he doesn't have to go, but if he does I would suggest lining up family members to come stay to give you a hand. ?DS is a very good baby, and a pretty good sleeper, and I still can't imagine being alone with DS for 10 days.

10 days? Seriously. DH is gone for a week at a time for work, so guess who gets to be by herself with no help? And I dont have family around me. You'll do fine.

  • You have family around to help out if you need it.  I think you'll be fine.  My DH will be traveling about a month after our baby is due, too.  He is more worried about being gone than I am.

I think she's talking more about being home as a first time mother for 10 days with a newborn. Not quite the same IMHO as being pregnant with no help for a week. Just saying.

Honestly, I think you'll be great, I know it sounds scary (and I would be ticked and scared too) but truthfully I think of our military mamas in times like this, whose DH's are deployed and might never come home. If they can do it-so can you righ? Plus you'll have all of us! Now if thats not a confidence booster, I don't know what is. Big Smile Let us know what they decide *fingers crossed* they send someone who really wants a trip overseas instead.

I was talking about when I'm about ready to pop the sucker out- not right now. I'll be lucky if my DH is even there at the hospital the day after becuz he had to go back to work. He doesn't get PTO or any of that. Its 10 days with a newborn. It will be stressful, but not the end of the world. She'll be fine.

  • I'm right there with you. My husband is going away to Europe for 2 weeks about 2 weeks after the baby is born. And I'll have a toddler to take care of too! Not looking forward to it, but he can't cancel this trip. At least his parents live nearby.

Do you have family around to help??

  • be strong- you can handle it! imagine being him- the one who has to leave his newborn child.. :(
