Babies: 9 - 12 Months

on what day does ovulation start..

i know i should know this after having a baby but what day does ovulation start usually? can you count it from the 1st day of your last period?

isnt it like the 12th, 13th, 14th???

someone help, im getting a brain fart!!

Re: on what day does ovulation start..

  • That would depend on your menstrual cycle.  Some people don't ovulate until day 21 because they have longer cycles.

  • Typically it is around day 12-15 past ovulation but you can get the OPK's or a basal body therm. and do some charting to figure out when you're ovulating.

  • This really varies from person to person. ?My cycles were on the longer side and I usually O'd around day 18. ?

The only reason I know this is because I charted when we were TTC.?

  • Tuesday.

lol - at least, it was a Tuesday for me this month. Totally depends on your specific cycle. Start charting.

Yup, you've got the idea. It also sounds like you realize there is individual variation. And to be fair, it could also be before day 12........

  • thats what i thought...so what are the chances of gettng PG on the first day of being fertile????!

If you mean on the very day of ovulation then I'd say excellent!

  • no like the first day of being fertile...like on the ovulation calendars, today is the first day of being fertile but by wed is when im ovulating...it goes by shades of green and today is a light light green so i dont think my chances are that high??, right??
  • Are you trying to get PG?  If so ... just have sex every day this month that you are even *slightly* fertile. Including ovulation days obviously.

    If you're not ... then, don't.

  • totty: yes and no lol

we said we are going to start again this june but lately im starting to get impatient and DH is talking about it more too so its hard to wait till then

im a teacher tho and i rather have the baby in march than november but whatever happens i willbe fine!!

  • Just want to clarify something: You don't START ovulating on a specific day, you ovulate or you don't.  Your body works to prepare eggs and usually releases one, which happens in a matter of minutes.  I just want to make sure you're clear that you don't ovulate several days in a row or anything.  You are right that you are usually fertile leading up to O day.  Are you charting?  If your cervical fluid is fertile, than you have a chance of getting pregnant, assuming you ovulate within 5 days of having sex.
  • 7/04: yes i know that...i meant "fertile"...i always mix up the two

i know ovulation is on one day but you are fertile for a few days prior...i was wondering what the chances are for getting PG on your 1st fertile day. Since you are only slightly fertile on the first day, i was wondering if there is even a chance or is it just a low % of a chance

now im thinking too much into this. i need to get over it and wait till my period is supposed to arrive and go from there!! lol

    thanks for clearing that up
