This is why I am trying to keep an open mind. However...her reason thus far have been way out of left field. And insulting to those of us who did have a "vag" birth and bf. Right now she reminds me a lot of that crazy youtube lady.
She obviously sees her body as a provider of sexual needs more than anything else. It's easy to get KTFU if that's the case! Shame though that she's a bit too immature to separate the use of one's body for sexual and for maternal means.
You beat me to that one! Maybe one of these days she'll grow up. Pathetic.

Who cares? She could've said she wanted to FF because the colors of the can lids are so pretty, and as stupid as it sounds, it'd still be her choice, and not one that "respect" should be based on. Same with the way she chooses to bring her child into the world.

What I don't support is her reasoning behind it.
She really is not putting her baby before herself- even though she thinks she is- which is what is so upsetting. Unfortunately, she is not the only one out there whose child will suffer from ignorance- and I think for her breastfeeding is one of several issues she will struggle with.
I think it's more because she seemed totally uneducated about how BM production works, and the pros and cons of BFing and FFing. Her choice is certainly hers to make based on what's best for her and her family, but she should have her facts straight first.
That's the funny thing about respect. People can choose their own reasoning for why they do/don't respect someone. Freedom of choice is awesome.

That's kind of what I'm getting at--why can't she just make the choice to make the choice? Why is it such a big deal that you don't support her reasoning, or if something said on the Internet is vaguely offensive to those who made a different choice?

Everyone is entitled to make their own decisions about how to bring up their child, however, when you justify it with 'I couldn't look my child in the face at 18' then usually people will lose any respect.
I'm not sure i'm entirely comfortable with the idea of BFing right now but i'm def going to give it my best shot and i'm expecting the (very few) awkward feelings to go away... if they don't i'll feed in private. I'm sure there are other first timers who feel the same way.
Why is it important to you that I have my own opinion? And several others on here have vocalized a simular opinion, yet you have a problem with mine? When someone says something that offends what I have expeienced, you bet I am gonna call them out on it.
Shoot, if I tried that, my fingers would be rubbed raw from typing. Just roll your eyes and move on. Laugh about Internet stupidity with your DH over dinner.
I'm not just disagreeing with you in particular.
