Why does this annoy me? Vent..

I have been taking reglan for two weeks now and have been able to increase my supply greatly. I went from pumping 7oz an entire day to now pumping 20-22 oz a day.

My good friend whose son is 3 days younger than mine has been having no problems pumping whatsoever. She pumps twice a day and gets 28 oz. Her son now requires 4 oz bottles and she isnt able to freeze milk daily like she was since he increased his appetite. She now wants to get a perscription for reglan because its done wonders for me so she can increase her freezer stash. Why would she abuse the medication just to freeze milk?

 

Why does this annoy me so? I know Im being petty but its just annoying. The medication is for people who cannot produce milk and its a last resort. Its not to put milk in the freezer when she already produces milk. She is going to tell her Dr. what was happening to me to get the perscription.

    I would not get involved.

    I am also not sure if I would be friends with a woman who lies to get what she wants, esp by exposing her baby to drugs without reason.

    That frustrates me too. I also am on Reglan, because I just want to have a normal supply. Let alone extra.

    It would annoy me too- my ds takes about 24 oz a day and I've gone from 10ish to 18-20ish oz a day- there is no extra to freeze and I'm thankful for every ounce I can get!

    It annoys you because PUMPING SUCKS!  I did it 7 times per day, 20 mins each for 10 solid weeks. 

    I get a pang of jealousy each time I see a post about breastfeeding :(

    I don't know how her attitude comes across but I thought I would just offer a different perspective.  Does she EP?

    I EP and my DS eats 35-40 ounces a day now.  I know I'm lucky to cover what he eats.  But maybe she's thinking ahead?  The 28 oz she makes is great now, but will not be enough if her LO turns into a big eater a couple months down the road.

    It sounds like you two have a very open relationship, so why not suggest that she start pumping more.  The more she pumps, the more she will produce and she shouldn't need to take any pills to do that.

    Whats the harm in her taking it? It's not like theirs a shortage of it or anything right?

     It sounds like you're just looking for something to get annoyed over.
