Dumb question. Maybe kind of morbid

I was watching a video on the recovery of the plane crash victims. And I've been wondering if they crashed and then there was a fire of such intensity, how is there much, if anything to recover? You can roll your eyes at me now.

  • No, I don't think its a dumb question.  The amount they are able to recover may depend on the heat & intensity of the fire.  I think it may take them a while to find everthing.

  • I actually don't know, so I'd say it's not such a stupid question. :)

  • They'll probably be able to recover bone & tooth fragments now that I think about it.  Even when bodies are cremated, there are fairly good chunks of bone & teeth leftover.  Those can be DNA tested.
  • That's true. It just makes me so sad.

  • It has to be devastating for the families.  I saw the mom of the co-pilot talking on TV about how she just expects her daughter to walk into the room at any moment.  Just so tragic.  And the wife & daughter that escaped from the house, I can't imagine how thankful & guilty they must feel right now.
  • I saw that. And the law student and hockey player were so pretty and looked so happy. Ugh. It pisses me off they were so close to the airport. It's like car wrecks always happening w/in minutes of home. I never want to know that kind of pain & heartache.

  • Your right, there may not be much left, but there will be some bone fragments and often metal objects, even with a high intensity fire.
