3rd Trimester

I feel kind of silly asking this

but if the doctor can actually touch the baby's head through the cervix, does that mean the mucus plug is gone?

  • I think they can feel the head if the cervix is thinner not necessarily more open.

  • Good question.  At my last internal, the doc said my I wasn't dilated but she could feel her head was down and to the side a little.  She didn't mention anthing about my mucus plug though.  So now you've got me wondering.
  • yesterday, the midwife said I was one cent dilated and that she could literally feel the baby's head spinning on her finger.
  • I think it's a good question. At my last appt they said I was 3cm, thinning, and she could feel the baby's head was down and engaged. I assume I lost my mp... but then yesterday I had a ton of pinkish dc, so now I'm second guessing my original thought on it.

  • That's interesting, but I don't think you need to lose your MP first because at every appt since 36 weeks, they could feel his head and I just lost mine a couple days ago. I don't know.
