There is a place near our house that you can pick your pottery and paint it there, and then go back in a few days after they've fired it to pick it up. We are thinking about taking DS when he wakes up from his nap to make something for MIL's bday next weekend.
We were just thinking of doing his hand prints and letting him "paint" on something - just as something cute.
Have you ever done this?  We did it for our parents for our wedding, but I'm not sure how DS will do.  Hopefully he will be patient long enough to get SOMETHING on whatever we pick!! ![]()
Re: Amazing Glaze with an almost 2 year old?
I took DD over Christmas, when she was about 18 mos. It was really fun. I took a friend with me to help, but we painted several items as Christmas presents.
I'd recommend that you paint the base coats (at the place we went to, they said to paint 2-3 coats, plus you have to blow dry in between). So one of us kept DD busy while the other painted and dried the base coats. When that was done, we gave DD the brush and let her embellish in contrasting colors. Her attention span wasn't long enough to paint everything with several layers.
We waited until the very end to do the handprints b/c we wanted to wash her up and leave right after that. It was really fun and I hope the place is still in business next Christmas!
