So I last updated you all Thursday night. At my 41 week appointment Thursday morning, I was 4 cm. and 90% effaced. The doctor stripped my membranes and said she thought I've have the baby within 24 hours. After having contractions since Wednesday night, they fizzled out by Thursday night. Yesterday I had none. Very frustrating, especially since the doctor had confirmed I was in early labor.
Last night, I woke up in the middle of the night with cramping. The cramps were bad enough by about 4:00 this morning that I decided to get up and take a hot shower. When I got up, fluid dripped down my legs. It wasn't a lot, so I wasn't sure if it was amniotic fluid, pee, or discharge. After my shower, there was still liquid dripping a little bit. I put on a pad and went back to bed figuring I'd be able to see if I soaked the pad. The cramps had subsided a bit, so I was able to fall back asleep. Then they started to pick up again - there was a baseline cramping that never completely went away, and then it had peaks of painfulness (not horrible, but enough that I couldn't sleep through it). I started timing these peaks, which were 7-8 minutes apart. Called the doula at 8:00, and she said that it's quite possible my water broke high in the sac, and my baby's head is so low that it's acting as a cork so not much fluid is getting out. She said to see if the contractions continued, so I got up and ate some cereal, helped DH change the sheets, etc. Then the contractions got more painful - still not horrible, just like bad cramps.
So now we're just timing the contractions, which are ranging from 4 minutes to 8 minutes. The doula will be coming to our house soon, and then we'll decide when to go to the hospital.
Miss you ladies! I saw that Jessimurph had Charley - so exciting! Can't wait to get caught up!
