So funny! I just posted the SAME thing below!!! My dr wants to use it on me on the 23rd if I need to be induced. What do you think about it?? It is scary if you read about it but it's supposed to work great so i am torn!
I did-I got the cytotec at about 3am, pitocin at 7am and my baby was born at noon. Everything worked exactly as it should have, I guess! I had no progress of my own prior to being admitted.

The biggest difference between Cytotec and Cervidil is that Cervidil can be removed if necessary, but Cytotec can not. I was given both and neither did much to help me along.
If you can refuse the Cytotec and do Cervadil please do. They WANT you to use Cytotec because it's cheaper. A lot cheaper. But it's not an exact dose and it can't be controlled. This is an off label use for this drug and it's not as safe as they say it is. Also, it can lead to contractions that are too strong for you and the baby which results in a c-section.
I got two of them 12 hours apart from each other and they didn't do anything. I was only 33 weeks and my body was not ready for labor, that may be why. GL!
I was. I had two doses on Wednesday, and it softened my cervix but not much else. They started the pitocin on Thursday morning, and DD was born by c-section at 1:02 AM on Friday. My body just didn't progress because it wasn't ready. However, the doctor may have let me labor longer but DD's heart rate started decelerating with contractions, and when they pulled her out they found her cord was wrapped around her chest.
I was induced with both (2 different deliveries). At first I was a little taken aback when my doctor said Cytotec for the 2nd induction so I asked him about it. He said it has a much higher success rate than Cervidil and that you are less likely to end up with a failed induction if you use it. He said that when he induces with Cytotec he closely monitors his patients and if it does start to hyperstimulate the uterus to a point where it endangers the mother or baby at all he would do a c-section. That said, he has never had that happen to any of his patients. I felt comfortable with his decision to go with Cytotec after he explained that. It worked wonderfully! I took 1 pill and it sent me into full labor. I never even needed pitocin. I delivered my son 10 and a half hours later. My induction with the Cervidil was successful too, but not that easy.
