thought I was having a baby today

I woke up this morning with cramping and pressure. I went to work, and it just got worse. My bladder was killing me so I figured that I had a bladder infection. I tried to call my dr, but they were CLOSED so I had to call the Labor and Delivery to see if I could come in and get antibiotics. I went in, they hooked me up to the machines and I didn't have a bladder infection. I was contracting. Within half an hour my back starting killing me and the contractions were getting stronger and 3-4 mins apart. The midwife checked me and I had already dialted a centimer. At my dr appointment on Wednesday, I was high and closed with no sign of labor anytime soon. The baby was now moving down into position. The midwife and the nurses all told me that today was the day and that they were going to admit me on the severity of my contractions. At the last minute they told me to walk, and after 2 hours, the contractions started to slow and I had made no progress so I was sent home after being there for over 8 hours contracting. Now I'm home feeling like crap and contracting. What a sureal day.

Are your contrax 3 or 4 min apart again?? You are having a crazy day! But it does sound like you'll have that baby soon! GL!

That sucks! I'm pretty surprised by the hospital's reactions. Seems like they would 1) either try to stop your contracts so you could make it to 37-38wks for the baby's lungs or 2) if they were ok with you delivering now, give you something to continue the contracts and deliver....

Yes the contrx are still very frequent, but getting less intense. I couldn't believe when they told me this was the "Big day". I thought it was too early but they said after 36 weeks they dont to anything to stop the labor!

Mine won't stop contractions after 34 weeks, but they won't encourage with pitocin or anything else until 37w. I hope that you can hang onto that baby just a little longer! I'm sure you're glad to be home!

Yeah I don't think mine does anything after 36 weeks to stop labor either. Even though peds consider 38 weeks full term.
