Blog Update: Part 2 - Woolie Washing

So I finally got the blog post written about how to wash woolies.  I know that lot's of people have asked about washing and lanolizing, so I thought I'd write it up so that it's there for reference.  Please feel free to check it out, and if you have a wonderful tip to share then go ahead and do so in the comments.  (I love comments!)

Also, I have pics of my last project being modeled by their recipient and my newest project in progress to post...so keep an eye out for those coming up!

    Are you suppose to wash and lanolize them inside out?!

    Yup...I love making longies!  It's all T wears now.

    And, I wash/lanolize inside out, just because i feel like the lanolin gets a litte more concentrated on the inside of the woolies, which is where you want it in the end anyway!  It's not necessary, just my preference.

    Thanks! I tried wool once before but I over-lanolized and never tried again. I just bought some more wool though. Hopefully I can do it right and fall in love! I think wool longies and shorties are so cute!

    They are fabulous!  Start off slow.  You can always add more lanolin.  :)  Also, be sure that the lanolin is really dissolved well in your water, so that you don't have patches of lanolin floating in the water.  This can cause staining as well.

    Would it be best it I boiled water and put the lanolin in that, and do I add wool wash with the lanolin?

    well, it looks like the wool wash has lanolin in it already.  I would start by just adding a few teaspoons of the wool wash to your warm water, swish it around and then add the woolies.  If you feel like that is not enough lanolin, then you could always add some next time.  Since it is liquid lanolin, something I have done in the past is lanolize like usual with the wool wash, then take a small squirt of the lanolin on your fingers and rub it into the wool in the wet zone.  let me know how it goes, and i'm happy to answer questions!
