How I saved $20...yes, I'm cheap

So I want to have DD's first birthday party at a park so all the other kids aren't messing up my house and have playground equipment to play on.  I call up parks and rec and ask if I can reserve the shelter for noon-4:00.  She said they reserve it on blocks from 8:00-12:00 and noon to 7:00.  Each block costs $10.  Or its just first come first serve.  I already sent out the invitations and DH and I totally plan on having one of us just go way early to start setting stuff up so we'll be first.  We don't really think a lot of people are going to want to reserve a shelter in March.  Even if someone did reserve it there are more shelters we can set up at...they're just a little farther away from the playground is all.

  • That's great. At the parks around us there are always extra tables especially in the non-summer months.

Your post totally reminded me that I need to reserve one. DS's B-day is in July, so I'm pretty sure it will fill up fast.

  • Ha, kudos.  I'm all about saving a buck.  If I was rich, I think I would be one of those people who clip coupons and save plastic bags and die with $10 million in the bank.
