Those in apartments.. Come in

I have a dilemma...What do you girls do when ya'll have to go throw out the trash or go get the mail. Both our trashcan and mailbox are I'd say no more then 50 ft from our apartment however I don't go, because I don't want to leave DD inside by herself.

I hate having to wait till DH comes home because by then its dark. I don't ask him to take out the trash or get the mail because I am perfectly capable of it, but would like to have it done before he gets here.

I feel like even if I go for 3 minutes I'm a bad mom to leave her unattended for even that amount of time. We do not have a monitor that I could take with me.

Omg seriously? ?You are not a bad mom for leaving her for 3 minutes! ?Just set her in a safe spot (I always put DS on the floor on his blanky - used to put him on our bed, but he can roll now) and put a bunch of toys near him or just set him in front of the window so he can look at the trees and do my thing...

I'm gone literally 2 minutes at the most and he doesn't even realize I'm gone! ?If I have to go get the mail (it's kind of a walk from where my apt is in the complex), I usually put him in a sling and carry him with me. ?Or we do all this when I go for a walk with him and he's in the stroller.

Your baby needs some time alone - just so they get used to entertaining themselves...this is not a bad thing!?

I don't live in an apartment, but I have a mailbox outside. If I go get the mail, I bring DD out with me. I'm not thinking you are freezing to worry about cold so close to the gulf. As for the trash, why can't you bring it out at night or your DH do it? I'm sure your capable of it, but I'm thinking he could do it anyway.

Maybe you could take her with you in a sling/wrap/pouch carrier. i don't know, personally it would make me nervous to leave her in there b/c you never know what could happen, but that's just me.

I usually wait for DH to come home, and he or I will walk to the mailbox. He always takes the garbage out too. In my situation, I wouldn't leave DS alone. I would think carrying him in a sling would be ok!

I typically wait until DH comes home. But if it gets too bad, I will take the trash out when both the girls are sound asleep. I look a crazy person sprinting to the bin and back (maybe 30yards). Occasionally if I will just set it on the porch or in the garage, but I run the risk of a fine putting it on the porch, and b/c it is always warm here, it starts to stink the garage to high heaven so I don't like to do that either.

I do have a monitor though, you may look in to one.

The mail I never check since I feel like it would take too long and is farther than the trash bin. DH checks it on his way home.

I take the trash out while DS is on his playmat all the time. ?He doesn't even notice I'm gone... it takes about 60 seconds.

And as for mail, it's on the otherside of the parking lot past the pool. ?I usually wait for DH to get home... or I wait till the next day. ?Mail does not get collected everyday.
