i had a birthing center birth and was supposed to use the tub, but she came way too fast.
the only words of wisdom i can offer is really concentrate through each contractions and stay calm (easier said than done, i know). it really helped me once i got close to the pushing stage.
good luck!

I started out in the tub at home....but it became too painful. I went to the hospital and planned on using their birthing tub there...but honestly the most comfortable thing was the birthing ball....after 6 hours and 5 1/2 cm. I finally asked for the epi....good luck to you.

I am not sure what kind of tub you will be in, but I was in a regular sized tub at the hospital because I didn't demand the big tub room (I didn't know I was going to have a water birth). My words of wisdom would be squat and when you are pushing make sure you are able to open your hips up as much as possible. I had to flip around parallel to the tub in order to get my hip open enough for her to come out all the way. Breathing through the contractions is what got me through. I also drank a TON of water while I was in there. I had the straw in my mouth every two seconds. I also wished once she was out that I had asked for more hot water when I started pushing because I got really cold and couldn't ask for more water once I started pushing. It was too intense to talk. Good luck! I hope it works out for you. It was an amazing experience and such a great pain reliever for me.
