having a plane fall on your house

has to be the most insane thing.  being is a plane-crash is a known risk (meaning, if you fly, there is always a chance that might happen).

no one ever thinks that a plane might fall on their house.  i just can't imagine the utter confusion and insanity of that.

  • I know. I can't even imagine what they had to be thinking/feeling at that moment.

I live right next to an airport and my husband and I were talking about it in the middle of the night when the baby got up. They interviewed a guy that said that they heard the plane and that it didn't sound right and then they heard a loud bang. We hear them fly over all the time...that would be so scary.

  • I would be scared shiiitless.  I remember after 9/11 that I was so afraid that a plane would fly into our house.  Everytime I heard a plane, I would shudder.  Actually, when I hear a plane that is very loud, I worry that it is flying really low, and I still look around!  Ha ha, I guess I must have PTSD or something.
  • not sure where that box came from over my post ??

Same here.  We live a few miles from an airport and they fly over our house all the time.  It's so unlikely to happen, but it definitely has me a bit freaked out! I just cannot imagine it happening!

  • This has been a lingering fear of mine almost my entire life. I grew up near an airport and always worried about it. And it didn't help that I had constant dreams of seeing plane crashes (like 4-5 times a week or more). So even now at 31 years old and not living near an airport, I'm still terrified if I hear one fly overhead. No matter where I am, if I see a plane I will watch it just to make sure it stays in the air the whole time I can see it.

I'm the same way. I still panic whenever I see a low-flying plane.

  • Sounds strange, but I've always had a fear of this ever since I was little.  We lived under the flight path for LAX and when ever a plane came in super low I would run to the window to make sure it wasn't going to land on our house.
