poll: Nursery

When do you plan on doing your nursery?  We painted ours when we painted the whole house so that is finshed.  We also have a crib that we were originally going to convert into a full bed for my little brother, but then I got my BFP and we didn't do it.  So right now we have a painted room with a crib in it.

Re: poll: Nursery

  • We aren't doing anything yet. We have ideas floating around but nothing final.
  • Loading the player...
  • I've already bought a few small things for the nursery but I don't plan on really starting to put everything together until around 20 weeks or so.
  • We'll work on ours during the summer, because we're both teachers and that's when we'll have time.

We're actually going to be working on DS's new bedroom, because the new baby is just going to move into his nursery, which we did in gender neutral brown and cream.

  • We're moving into our new house in March so we will probably paint the room shortly thereafter before we start putting anything else in it.  I'm so excited!  After the paint is all set, then we'll start gathering more stuff and put it together as we get it.  It's going to be sooooo cute, I can't wait.

  • The nursery is going to have to share with the spare bedroom.  Since we like to have guests and family visit, we don't want to get rid of the guest bed yet.  We figure we can wait a while for that, and by the time our little tyke needs tit's own space, we will hopefully upgrade to a bigger house!

Oh, we are probably going to wait until  we find out the baby's gender before we start getting baby stuff set up!

  • We gutted our 'nursery' when we redid our upstairs bathroom. DH is in charge of getting it back to normal when the weather is a little nicer. Which nicely coincides when we find out the sex :)
  • We're waiting to find out what we're having...I have resisted buying anything but it will be tough!

  • We'll start after we find out the sex.

I do plan on painting the dresser some time in the next few weeks, though..just to give me something to do.

  • Not until we find out if its a boy or a girl.  I want white furniture for a girl, but a stained wood for a boy (color depends on the bedding we go for).  I also still have to convince DH to move around all of our furniture so that the baby's room is in the back of the house, with a smaller window... and a better closet set up.

  • The bedroom that will become the nursery is currently my studio (I am a calligrapher) and I get super busy in the early spring (gearing up for June weddings) so we won't clear it out until later Spring/early Summer.. Not sure yet on colors, we are not finding out the sex so it will be pretty neutral, no big ideas yet. I am just starting to peek...All I have is a bassinette that was given to me by my mom that has been in our family for generations...

  • We started to plan our nursery..like what colors we would want to do if a boy or girl..We did rip out the carpet and install hardwood..but we are going to wait to start really decorating until we know if a boy or girl.

  • We can't give up our spare room, so instead it will be a spare room with a crib and diappers.  We were already planning on painting it a neutral color before we got the BFP, probably in the next two months or so and then the rest will wait until later this summer.

  • Probably this summer. It's too hot in AZ to do anything outside, so that'll work well then.
  • Our Nursery will be my current Office, which will then move downstairs.  So we will wait awhile to put it together for the sake of keeping my stuff upstairs as long as possible.  However, this will not stop me from buying things :-)

  • The room we are going to use for the nursery is an open office right now. So DH needs to close off the wall and put in a door. Which he of course is dragging his feet about.  So we won't be able to decorate until all the construction work is done.

  • We bought our home in December, and picked a "nursery-friendly" color for the guest room, just in case - glad we did, too! We went with a neutral soft yellow color. I'm thinking about going with sort of an older winnie the pooh (like the older drawings, I mean, not the actual cartoon) theme, but that may change. I guess I will wait until the summer, too.

  • I won't do anything with a nursery until I'm at least out of the 1st trimester.

We left that 1 room unpainted when we did the whole house because I wasn't sure how I would want to paint the nursery. I think I will do a gender neutral theme for sure though as I plan to purchase gender neutral bedding to use if we have more children.

  • no idea.

we rent, so i don't think we can paint.  but we also might be moving in dec after DH graduates, so that's up in the air too.  but also, BIL lives w/us.  so we need him to move his a$$ out (!!!!!).

DH did tell him before our bfp that we'd like to live by ourselves for a while.  i think once we break the news of the bfp, that'll motivate him.  but it took him 4 mo. to decide on a freaking laptop.  i can only imagine how long he'll take to find an apartment.

  • We will probably start really working on it at around 25 weeks.  The room is already painted a soft green and I started looking at some gender neutral bedding etc.
  • I am thinking the summer. I am a teacher and will have time then. We aren't finding out the sex, so it will be fun to find some gender neutral things!
  • We have the nursery set up for our first child, but we have to get the toddler bed and try to get DS to sleep in it. and try to rearrange the furniture for two kids.  I have no idea when we are going to do that.  I guess when I hit around 30 weeks.
  • We have the room painted and the boarder put up...when we were told we wouldn't have kids..we decided to adopt...dh was going to let me do 1 thing a month to get the nursery ready so it'd be ready in a year for homestudy
1 chemical and 1 loss at 9 weeks prior to DS

    1/25/16- BFP  Beta1 12dpo = 17, Beta 2 14 dpo = 28.. resulted in one beautiful boy born 9/21/16 :)

Now I'm a stay at home loving life and pursuing my love of photography!!!
  • Well we are moving at the end of April which works out great because that's when we'll find out what the sex is, then we'll start decorating and planning all that fun stuff.  We have looked at bedding sets for both genders just in case but nothing set in stone yet.... just general ideas because you never know in the 1st trimester if baby is going to make it so... we figure we better wait.
  • Sadly, we dont' have a spare room for the baby yet... I hope we will move after the summer, baby is due in Sept., and then have a 2BR apt. ?In the meantime, I guess there will be some manner of getting rid of living room furniture and making a corner for the crib. ?Maybe I'll put some kiddie art around.... but there isn't room to do anything awesome.
  • We have the whole nursery planned, but first we have to paint. I live in Minnesota so it won't be warm enough to paint until the spring. We are doing an antique circus theme, with beige walls and red, yellow and blue the crib is going to look like a circus train car. We have been thinking about the nursery since we were TTC! That and DH has to finish cleaning out the room, it used to be his office, but he does most of his work on the kitchen table anyway.

  • We haven't even told people we're having a baby yet. I think we'll get into the swing of picking stuff out once our parents find out and all that. I have a couple ideas in my head, but I need to look around at the stores and stuff.

i totally understand how you feel- my BIL lives with us too and we don't get along currently- mostly because he doesnt wanna follow house rules (simply cleaning up after himself and fully closing the back door- lol great rules i know!)-- so we have been silent to each other since Novemeber- when we broke the news to the familiy at christmas- he never even gave me a hug or never even muttered a congrats- he hugged his bro though- so lovely!

i think he is feeling like i am in his way- he is a waste of life and none of his family wants him (he mooches off of everyone)- so thats y we got stuck with him (his dad and him fight all of the time)- my dh is waay too nice and the man (or shall is refer to him as boy) has overstayed his welcome-

dh told my FIL that BIL will have to move out because BILs room is the nursery- we only have a 3 bedroom house with NO storage or closet space so the extra room we have now will actually be more of a storage room for the time being- regardless to say, FIL and BIL are not thrilled- but BIL is 25 and he needs to get on his own feet!

  • We are actually moving furniture around this weekend (simply because we have the time for it!) and patching the walls in the rooms where artwork was- the office is becoming the guest room, the guest room is becoming the nursery. We have to switch the beds in the office and the guest room and DH already moved the computer to the living room just because he wanted it in there. My craft table is going bye-bye Crying so that sucks.

Basically, we just are trying to get organized now and clear out that room. We won't actually decorate anything until this summer (like pps said, I'm a teacher so that's the most logical time). We also have to paint a bed frame and a bookshelf, so maybe that will get done before this summer, but that's about it.

  • we have to buy a house first... i have a feeling that the nursery will get done during months 7-9
  • Our condo is an open loft-like kind of thing (NYC living) so the baby gets a corner of the bedroom. We have to get rid of treadmill first, so DH wants to wait until it's warm enough to run outside. I don't really want an empty crib sitting around for months and months, so I think we will wait until the summer to buy something. ?
  • We currently live in on-post housing but are going to move off and rent a house mid-May and have the baby's room ready then. I'll be 5 months and we want to be settled to keep as little going on in the 3rd trimester as possible.
  • We don't know what house we will be living in by the time we deliver.... (we plan on buying my mothers house from her soon and upgrading to a decent size city and selling this one asap)

So, we will either start on that project when we get an estimated moving time or figure out the sex...even tho we are going gender neutral.

It's all so up in the air right now, it scares the hell out of me.

  • Probably not until after the baby comes. We went all out for DS#1, had it done by week 28 I think. Then with DS #2, we had his bedding but didn't paint until after he arrived. He slept in our room for about 6 weeks or so, and didn't really need his room done yet. This time, will probably be no different. Plus, we are moving in July to Kansas to we won't do anything until we are settled there.
