Anyone's dc not going to have cousins?

Ds isnt at least for like 6 years is their plan(unless something happens-but for everyones sake I hope not) They are still in college and not even working so that would be very bad, but by then ds will be around 9, poor guy! At least he has a ton of friends his age.

Re: Anyone's dc not going to have cousins?

  • DS has one cousin who is 16 years older than him. He's not likely to have any others.

  • MHs half sister has one son, who is 12 years older than DS.

My brother was divorced with no kids, and just got engaged. It will be a while before they have any, and since he's 37 and she's 36, they probably won't have more than one.

It's a good thing that all of our extended family have reproduced like bunnies.

  • My dh is an only child and both of his parents were also only children so he grew up with zero cousins. Clearly my kids aren't going to have any cousins on that side of the family!

My family more than makes up for it though- I'm one of 8 kids. My kids already have two cousins and one more on the way, plus 5 of my siblings are all young-ish (college aged) and haven't started to have kids yet.?

  • My DH and I each have one sister.  My sister is getting married in Oct but I think they will wait a few years before they have kids.  DH's sister is gay and they have no intention of having kids.  They would much rather just spoil our girls!

I grew up with a ton of cousins and we all still see each other fairly often.  It does make me a little sad that my girls won't have that, but there's not much I can do about it!

  • My DDs have cousins but they may as well not have any.  DHs family is complicated and those who have children (or might in the future) live in other states.   We never see them and DH doesn't have a great relationship with them.  Those kids will be strangers to my DDs.  DHs sister who he gets along great with lives in across the country and has chosen not to have children as has my brother.  That's one major reason I wanted a second child.
  • I'm an only child - my DH has a brother.  She has 2 cousins...well, sort of ;P

One kid lives with his mother in TN and if there was ever a blood test, it would be proven that he does NOT belong to my BIL.  He is only my BIL's son because his name is on the birth certificate.

The other is a child my BIL had with his VERY young girlfriend.  They JUST left my ILs house after moving back in for a year because of money trouble right after having our nephew.  All I know is they are NEVER moving into OUR house ;P  And since they are NOT married, I wouldn't be so sure this chick is going to stay around much longer, so she may not know EITHER cousin.

I hope my BIL does NOT reproduce again!

She has several second cousins, though, and LOTS of friends.  Being an only child, I always surrounded myself with lots of friends who became like family to me.  I don't think my little social butterfly will be lonely just because she doesn't have tons of siblings or cousins.

  • My DH is an only child, and I have one brother who just got married...no cousins yet, but I do hope for some in the future!!  I only had one cousin growing up, and always wished for more...part of the reason why I want at least 3 kids, I have always wanted a big happy family (my family was very happy growing up, just kinda small). :)

  • My child will not have any first cousins at all. I'm an only child. My husband has a sister who cannot have children. Fortunately I have an uncle who is close to my age and Caroline is close to his 3 children. (I guess they're 2nd cousins? I don't know.)  We also have a close group of friends and we all have children around the same age. They are about a close to cousins as you can get.

I have around 16 first cousins, but I'm quite a bit older than most of them.

  • I can't say for sure but they don't so far...I am one of 5 kids but my oldest won't have any (his wife is too old & now had a hysterectomy), my 2nd oldest brother is 35 & still unmarried, my younger brother probably will but not soon as he'll be deployed again & my younger sister is almost 28 & doesn't even have a boyfriend at this point.  DH has 2 younger brothers who I can't see ever being mature enough to get married/procreate...they still mooch off their Mom pretty much full time at 28 & 26.  DH has no cousins (both parents were only) & I have 5 but not close to any of them at all.
